Marco Massarutto of Kunos Simulazioni has posted a very interesting picture on Facebook, prompting speculation that new Alfa Romeo content could be heading to Assetto Corsa soon...

The mystery post from Massarutto highlights one of the more ambitious and rare historic cars of Alfa Romeo's rich heritage, the visually (and audibly) stunning Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale.

Posted as part of his personal Facebook account, Massarutto confirms the brilliant little 33 Stradale will be "coming soon to Assetto Corsa", prompting some speculation as to if the car will be released as a standalone vehicle or part of a wider Alfa Romeo DLC package further down the line.

Produced between 1967 and 1969, Alfa manufactured just 18 examples of this high performance mid engine sports car and represents Alfa's intention to build a racing car for the road. Based on the foundations laid down by the Autodelta Alfa Romeo Tipo 33, the car immediately achieved near legendary status amongst motorcar enthusiasts.

Despite having been built during the early days of performance road car manufacture in the late 1960's, the 33 Stradale was still capable of achieving an incredible 0-60 mph in under 5.5 seconds and retailed from new for $17,000 - now thought to be in excess of $10,000,000 for a clean example of the vehicle.

Technical Specifications

Engine:
90° V8 DOHC
Displacement: 1,995 cc (121.7 cu in)
Power :230 bhp (170 kW) at 8,800 rpm
Torque: 200 N·m (150 lb·ft) at 7,000 rpm
Top speed: 260 km/h (160 mph)
0–97 km/h (0-60 mph): 5.5 seconds

Massarutto nor the Assetto Corsa team themselves have confirmed any release dates or pricing structure for the new DLC as of yet, however stay tuned to RaceDepartment to find out more as and when it becomes available.

And off course that is Kunos' fault... Sigh....

Where exactly did I blame Kunos? I didn't, nice straw man though. Doesn't matter if it's anyone's fault, mod tracks are rarely used online so the whole "but there are plenty of mod tracks!" argument doesn't hold much value for those of us who mainly race online. Especially for RD club racers.

What do you want me to say? This thread is about the maybe, maybe not upcoming Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. And what other cars we would like to see in case a pack gets released.

Welcome to the internet, where forum threads rarely stay 100% on topic, especially any RD thread related to AC. I'm still trying to figure out how people made the leap from Marco posting a picture of one car (that's been known for sometime to be coming to AC) to presuming there's a whole Alfa pack coming.

by your own admission you online guys only use a small fraction of the official tracks you have access to now.

Not by choice. Most hosts seem to mostly run the same handful of Kunos tracks. I've tried hosting servers using other Kunos tracks or mod tracks, very few people show up. Now I do most of my racing here in the RD club races and even though this is the number one place for AC mods they are basically banned in the clubs so we just keep repeating the same Kunos tracks over and over. I have checked out a couple SRS races lately and they make great use of mods so maybe I just need to spend more time there.

It is a shame that most public servers literally only run a few tracks.
You do just get Spa, Green Hell, maybe Monza or Mugello.

There are so many more tracks even in the game, you rarely see Brands, Silverstone, A1 ring, even imola doesn't not pop up that much.

Not sure why this is?

And also, back in the day on RF and even Gt Legends you had some amazing quick race servers, where you could literally be doing 5 or 6 races an hour with no practice and qualifying! that rarely is the case on AC.

Or you would have thrre or four tracks alternating, like Brands Indy, Nurb Sprint, Silv national, quick races on each, great fun

More than tracks, the software would need to rotate tracks without disconnecting the people from the server. That way hosts can run multiple tracks race after race without boring the players of the same thing.
I see that feature as more productive than bringing to AC1 10 more tracks but in reality the servers only use the same track every day.

Honestly I don't care much if no one will use this alfa romeo online, I can still play by myself in single player. So there's no reason not to bring a special car just because it won't be run online.

In fact, in case a new AC brings matchmaking with official servers (where players go in queue/lobby to find a race against players of similar rank), the competitive mode would most likely only runs series like GT3, F1, LMP, Touring, Cup cars. And all the other content are to serve people who like offline play.

Its puzzling why track rotation was left out of the AC multiplayer in the first place.

Looking at the bigger picture, I can only deduce that development on AC has more or less ceased as there has been virtually zero news for months on the nuts & bolds development portion of the game.
