SimFeedback-AC DIY Motion Simulator 10Khz Research

Hey all,

I'm really keen to build one of the SFX-100 rigs, but I've heard (been in the presence of) my brothers and the 10khz servo/driver noise really does my head in, so much so that I would not be able to put up with it. 5-10m of it, and I'm done. This is a darn shame :)

So, I'm going to see if I can get rid of it. Either electronically (preferred) or with accoustic treatment(s).

In this thread I'm simply going to document my journey. At this point I am unsure if it'll come to anything. Maybe I won't succeed. Maybe I'll get half way. Who knows.

The story begins with Neil buying himself a single driver and servo, a 3d printer, and saying to himself "hmm. what next" :)

My full notes are here, but I can't promise you'll understand them: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1J4AUnKNYtFRujTR9BFBB_lJudZRP_02BOt6lfAIN45I/edit?usp=sharing

Look below, I'm going to try to post a more understandable version of my journey!

Bought, Received and Installed four of the new "no whine" white drivers. Performed a quick power up and connect and so far, no 10khz noise.

They should of designed drivers this way to begin with. Now I've got 4 spare.

Did the 10kHz noise come from the servos or from the motors?
The 10khz is from the PWM switching of the IGBT driver in the servo drive.

In the new AASD plus drives, new IGBT driver is used to allow switching up to 20Khz, which is inaudible to humans.

So its upgrade both in hardware and firmware. I wish it could be simple fix. But at least the manufacturer finally listened to our requests.

I asked few questions from PT-Actuator:
Q: How much those new white Plus version drivers cost, four pieces?
A: "150usd each set, since you are going to need 4 sets. In total: 600usd."

Q: That price is really for new version without 10kHz whine?
A: "Of course, they are new, noiseless, and working at the frequency 13khz."

If those are really 13kHz instead of ~10kHz, that won´t help for me because with this test I can hear up to 14 500Hz

I have DIY MEGA+ from eRacing Lab
https://eracing-lab.com/collections/diy-projects/products/diy-mega-1

@thenic123 linked AliExpress seller, I asked from them if they can sell only drivers for my 90ST-M02430 MiGE motors and got answer:
"Hi, sorry that our drive is not for MiGE servo motors."

However that whine is not so big problem for me and can´t hear it under game sound, so I don´t waste ~750euros (inc shipping and VAT) just that those are maby noiseless for my ears.

Last time I spoke to the engineers they said the new frequency is now at 16Khz... hmm. Maybe he said 13Khz by mistake? He is not electronics engineer  . I don't have any of these AASD Plus units yet to test in spectral analyzer.

It would be helpful is anyone has them, they could install Spectroid in their phone and take a screen shot to share:

I don´t know, guy who answered was Shao.

Whine of my standard AASD-15A drivers

@thenic123 posted few Spectroid screenshots recorded from new drivers.
Hope it´s okay to post those here :)

These make very clear frequency of whine, thanks thenic123 !

Can YOU hear it or not?
I can´t

The new white (no noise) drivers listed on Master Jiang's Aliexpress page. Send them a message to confirm you order the correct ones.

Message also and specify NO cables and motors if just after the drivers.
