Session timing won’t allow you complete lap??

hi all, is there a fix/mod to allow your lap to count when in practice or qualifying as long as you start the lap with time remaining like it should?

For example we all know that in 99.9% of racing, if you start your timed lap b4 the chequered flag comes out, that lap counts,
