SCS Software reveal Liftable Trailer Axels will form part of the new ATS and ETS 2 updates due to hit open beta within the next week.
As is usually the trend with SCS Software updates to American Truck Simulator and European Truck Simulator 2, the Czech team have made available in open beta several new features planned for release in the main public release of both games.
Proposed for release into both the more recent ATS and earlier European release ETS 2 comes the inclusion of liftable trailer axles, something that has for a long time been keenly requested by the dedicated truck simulation community.
When explaining exactly what the new feature will bring to the game, SCS say:
"Lifting a trailer axle allows you to spread the weight among the trailer's wheels to optimize fuel consumption, limit tire wear, or adjust the trailer's maneuverability while turning or reversing."
To illustrate the new feature SCS have released this short gif showing the functionality in action HERE.
It has been advised by the studio that once the new build is released players will need to assign the appropriate buttons for this feature under the Key & Buttons options. The studio have not set a default hotkey or controller key in an effort to avoid breaking players existing configurations.
The open beta release is available now, with an extended period of testing to take place before the live version of both games receive the new update - expected over the next few weeks.
