Screen Shots newbe Question

Ok, don't laugh, how do I take and save a screen shot? and where will I find the shot when I need to upload it? Thanks

Usually the F12 button!
When you exit the game, Steam usually shows a window with the screens taken.

Thanks that worked, but how do I post it in a conversation? I get a box that asks for a URL

I believe they have to be uploaded to an image hosting provider or web server
