Welcome to the RD Racing Club. ALSO FOR NON PREMIUM MEMBERS!

Are you new to simracing? Is Online Racing a step you haven't dared take just yet? Do you fear making mistakes or getting other people's way on track? Well guess what, this is the place to banish all of those thoughts and come and join us for a night of exceptional racing and camaraderie where none of those fears will be an issue.

Rookie Nights are aimed at you - the newcomers. People new to simracing, or simply people who jump on a server and find themselves seconds off the pace. Or are you fed up with disrespectful behaviour on public servers? We want to help, and to give you a place to experience the joy of racing other simracers, with the same passion and who give clean and respectful racing the highest priority.

If you have any question on the night about racing on RD or online in general, or about how you are driving or anything else - ASK. By posting in this thread or a PM to the organizer. We are a helpful bunch, and when it comes to getting people up to speed or doing our best to convince you to keep coming back! There is no such thing as a stupid question at these events.

Special features for this rookie event:

  • Non premium members encouraged to take part.
  • Fast car for rookies (Spec 2 version), slow car for regulars (Spec 1 version).
  • Regulars can also sign up but this event is primarily for rookies. More experienced drivers will have the chance to give something back to the community by helping and encouraging rookies. This is about inclusiveness and making everybody feel comfortable.
  • The race is with an easy to drive and very forgiving car so you can fully concentrate on driving without having to fight with the car.
  • A good base setup for the MX5 Cup will be provided when you sign up.
  • Questions can be asked in this thread and will be answered by the staff member. Or send a PM to him.
  • The race is hosted and attended by the organizing staff member
    • To monitor the race.
    • To kick participants who deliberately cause incidents (we want clean and respectful racing)
    • To give tips and advice for improvement after the race based on the replay (when asked for).

To sign up for this event:
  • Make sure you have entered your real name in your RDAccount/Account Details. There's a field called 'Real Name'. It's for our internal communication only and your name will not be picked up in any internet search.
  • Post in this thread that you want to participate. You will receive a PM with the password to join, some extra information with tips and a setup for the MX5.

SITUATIONAL AWARENESS is essential for clean and respectful driving in our community. You should therefore use tools like CrewChief wherever possible. The links for these apps are on the bottom of this post.

Hi Denis. Spec 2 please mate.
Great stuff, thanks for getting the ball rolling.
This event is still a month away but the sooner we make a start the more chance people have to sign up.

I'll find a track and update the thread in the next few days.

I'm in! Not sure if I still qualify for Spec 2 car. Seems like I'm still a rookie, but I have done a few online races with rF2 now. I'd be okay with either car.

Let's put you in a Spec 2 for this one. If you feel like dropping to a Spec 1 for the next Rookie Event we'll do that when the time comes. :)

Hi I've never raced online but would like to try it. I use a hand controller am I automatically disqualified? Thanks

You are not! You probably would need to take a bit extra safety margins when fighting, but you're not disallowed to join.

I mean, I think the days where people could be an alien sim-racer with joystick, controller or a keyboard is over, but the main thing is that you are a safe and fair driver. That's all :)

Thank you for your reply it's the only thing I've used since about 2000. Unfortunately it's all I can afford will there be a practice before the race?

In please, Spec 2.
Welcome aboard. I look forward to seeing you on track and possibly chatting with you on Discord.

I'm so glad that we've encouraged you to take the leap into online racing. I hope you enjoy the racing. One thing is sure - if you never try you will never find out if you like it. :)
There is no restriction on which control system people use. We are inclusive and treat everybody as equals. Welcome aboard.

Thanks Ole - I agree with everything you say of course. The only comment I would make, is that we used to have a guy race with us in GT Legends who used a joy pad controler and he was pretty quick. Now what was his name again?.... he was American.... nice fella too...

There will be apractice session imediately before quali, but I will try to get a practice server up as soon as possible.
In please, Spec 2.
Welcome. :)

I'll add you guys to the server password thread. :)
