Welcome to the RD Racing Club. ALSO FOR NON PREMIUM MEMBERS!

Does online racing give you the heebie jeebies? Did you have bad experiences with dumb and unfair drivers on some random servers? FRET NO MORE! Here on RD is the place to banish all of those thoughts and come and join us for a night of exceptional racing and camaraderie where none of those fears will be an issue.

Rookie Nights are aimed at you - the newcomers. New people to simracing, or simply people who jump on a server and find themselves seconds off the pace. Or are fed up with unrespectful behaviour on public servers. We want to help, and to give you a place to experience the wonderful joy of racing other simracers sharing your passion - and we give clean and respectful racing the highest priority.

If you have any question on the night about racing on RD or online in general, or about how you are driving or anything else - ASK. By posting in this thread or a PM to the organizer. We are a helpful bunch, and when it comes to getting people up to speed or doing our best to convince you to keep coming back! There is no such thing as a stupid question at these events.

Special features for this rookie event:
  • Non premium members can also sign up
  • Fast car for rookies (Estonia 20/1600), slow car for regulars (Estonia 20).
  • Regulars can sign up but rookies have priority. With full grid regulars will be put on reserve list.
  • The race is with an older single-seater from the cold war era. It's relatively easy to drive, and fellow simracer @Kek700 has even prepared a rookie friendly setup that you can use if you like. See the second post on this thread below.
  • You will receive a personal message with information and tips for newcomers.
  • Questions can be asked in this thread and will be answered by those "in the know". Or send a PM to @abecede .
  • The race is hosted and attended by the organizing staff member
    • to monitor the race.
    • to kick participants who deliberately cause incidents (we want clean and respectful racing)
    • to give tips and advice for improvement after the race based on the replay (when asked for).
To sign up for this event:
  • Make sure you have entered your real name in your RDAccount/Account Details. There's a field called 'Real Name'. It's for our internal communication only.
  • Post in this thread that you want to participate. You will receive a PM with the password to join, some extra information with tips and the setup for the MX5.
SITUATIONAL AWARENESS is essential for clean and respectful driving in our community. You should therefore use tools like Helicorsa or CarRadar and CrewChief. The links for these apps are on the bottom of this post.

I thought I would give my point of view to the above…

First, even with the standard setup this car is very easy to drive.

Second, I really enjoyed driving this car.:)

I wanted to make a really safe setup, failed miserably, unfortunately.:(
low rear weight & hence rear slow speed grip was a problem, luckily for this car it is only in slow corners especially with an odd camber, as in Red Bull circuit.

This I can do nothing about.

But it is very secure once you are not in a slow high angle corner. luckily it only has about a third of formula Agile's power.
The driver will require some skill, both in slow corners and kerbs.
But the "safe" step up just gives, I think, a bit more security, not much time between both setups, and the standard setup, so that is a bonus. You can see if this applies to you too.

Try them both especially compared to the standard setup, if you are not happy, I will not be surprised.

I will be interested in the outcome.:)

Hi! i got really confused reading this...How can i join can you dm me on discord? Sorry and thank you
Hi Nejc!
I'll just add you to the list. Posting here was exactly what you needed to do.
I will post additional detailed information in a PM to you in a few minutes.

Can you please sign me in !!
Absolutely! Since I never saw your name in an RD event, I'd like to ask you which car you want to drive: the slightly faster Estonia 20/1600 for non-premium users who never raced with us before or the little slower Estonia 20 (which I automatically give to people who are regulars in our racing club)
It's up to you to decide :)
