After much waiting, the Competition System 2.0 for rFactor 2 has finally arrived, a system officially named rF2 Online. This system was built from the ground up last year and finally features many of the features requested by the community.
First of all, there is a Ranking System, divided into Safety Rank and Driver Rank: the first measures correctness on the track, while the second takes into account the results in the races and determines the various splits.
Daily races feature different categories based on your Safety Rank. These races are designed to be fun, fast and have little impact on Driver Rank. There are three levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. The first is open to everyone and will always use free content with races every hour. The intermediate level opens once you have reached the Silver Safety Rank and features races every 2 hours, while the advanced level is open to anyone who has reached a gold level Safety Rank and features races every 3 hours.
In addition to the daily races there will also be special weekly events, which will be longer than the daily races and with greater Driver Rank gains and losses. Often these events will reflect an ongoing real-world event, while other times they will be combinations proposed by the development team. These races will also use an API to reflect real-world weather within the game.
Another highly requested feature is the profile, a place where all the races carried out will be archived and which will show the various results obtained.
Similar to iRacing, rF2 Online offers the possibility of renting servers with sessions of different durations:
To join the rF2 Online Beta, you must first switch to the release candidate build of rFactor 2. Once the game is started and the rF2 Online icon is clicked, the player will be asked to create an account. Once the account is confirmed, all players will receive the BMW M2 CS as a gift.
The release candidate also brings with it several improvements, such as a fix for a crash for owners of AMD video cards, a new mod management feature that allows mods downloaded from a server to be set as temporary, so that they are deleted immediately subsequent startup, a refinement of the track limits system and some improvements to the artificial intelligence.
