RDRC S9 Round 1 - Rally Monte Carlo (1st February - 7th February 2021)

Aah man, rally was going ok I was in 2nd after a few spins and some stage wins not far away from the lead, until stage 11 when after barely touching a wall I punctured 2 tires and had to to the rest of the stage and stage 12 on the rim. A bad ending to this rally. I could say a lot of negative things about the specifics of this accident regarding the shortcomings of this game but I don't want to spread bad energy lol
Thank you so so much to Ole Marius, Jack, Daniel and anyone else I might be forgetting for organizing the championship and doing the magazines you guys do an awesome awesome job every time, really Codemasters should learn a thing or two from the RDRC.
And congratulations to all the podiums from all categories and participants especially my teammate Beto who has been doing a very consistent job and should be crossing the finish line any minute now.

Last half of the rally was def interesting. Mixed in some really good times with a hairpin stall and even a roll on SS8. Luckily the car landed on all 4 wheels so only lost 5 seconds. All in all I believe I lost around 20 seconds on pure mistakes along the rally which still wouldnt have gained me any place.
I went in to the rally hoping for top 20 in RDRC so currently sitting P5(this will change for sure) is well above expectations! Snatching some green sector times here and there is just an added bonus
Great job Bogani! I had an enjoyable fight with you the entire rally; well done!
Thanks to the RDRC staff for hosting an amazing rally, I'm looking forward to the rest of the season! That was a lot of fun!

While the provisional results will come after I wake up again (going to bed now). Remember that Top 20 overall scores, and if there's an RDRC-2 car (or more) in the top 20, they will push R5 cars out of the point scoring position!

This is something Codie's should do for the future. Giving us the option to choose who we compare splits with, not just against the top car. That would really ramp up the rivalry
Very happy chap here as well. My nerves for competitions are flimsy, to say the least, so participating in a casual competition like this makes my hands shake, heart beat and gives me tunnel vision. So I decided to start, really, really, REALLY easy, because I know how easily a small mistake (or even bad luck alone...) can break a race at the Monte Carlo... (Been there, done that. Many times.)
Upped the pace a bit through the rally, as I felt increasingly confident, and the nerves settled. It's difficult to regain the lost time from careful driving, but I feel better having lost time in a clean but slow stage, than going all in and wrecking the car.
I had a small 90 degree spin in one of the last stages, reminding me why I was driving carefully. I get much faster stage times with a small spin like that, than driving safely, but then again, you never know whether it's going to be a small spin or terminal damage. At least in Monte.
And now that I have a fairly clean rally on my resumé, I'll go all in for Sweden. Those snowbanks are like those inflatable sausages they put the gutters in bowling alleys when kids are playing - making it impossible to go off lane!

20 years after winning the Danish Rally Masters Championship (in the absolutely glorious title Rally Masters), I thought it was time to go back and try my luck with a rally championship. I'm getting old at the age of 34!
I've been racing online in Grand Prix Legends, Live For Speed and other sims before abandoning simracing whilst doing boring real life stuff as having a job, having an adult relationship and other irrelevant stuff. My last simrace online must have been in 2011 in some Porsche Carrera Cup race in rFactor.
During the last year, I've been doing a fair amount of stages in DIRT 2.0 on the Xbox, which also led me to purchasing a Logitech G920 that did improve my stage times quite a bit.
After a few test drives, I chose the good ol'e Escort RS Cosworth for my campaign. I knew that a R5 car would probably leave me breathless and demotivated. The R2 cars are FWD which I don't approve of, and on the other hand, the good ol'e Grp. H cars are quite the handful, too.
So, how did it go?
Preparations were ... sparse. Having another busy period in my company, evenings went by with work instead of important practice drives. So my practice consisted of driving through the first three stages of the rally to shake down before entering the rally. Right. Expectations were duly adjusted to "to finish first, first you'll have to finish".
I must admit. After losing well over five seconds in the first sector of the first stage, my initial thought was "what the actual f... am I doing here?" Being old and experienced, I kept my cool and decided that my competition probably was a bunch of youngsters racing away in a silly pace, just to throw it all away after missing a turn.
Then there was the puncture on SS2. Front right tire was done, but I decided to keep it running to the end of the stage rather than changing it on the stage. On SS3, I actually had three green sectors - just as the snow started, which I guess was because of the competitors going on soft tires on the first leg. Oh well, I was happy about them!
I kinda stuck with my plan to drive safe and keep it on the road, but losing approximately five seconds per sector was hurting a bit. Only thing that comforted me was that my safe driving seemed to push me up the ladder for each stage, so I kept at it. Until I had another brain fade and suffered a punctured rear tire on SS7. I tried to continue with it, but it was impossible to drive the car like that, so I forced my poor co-driver to jump out and do the dirty business while I sat inside cursing.
Rally stages in the night never really amused me, but just as the times when I've competed in 24 hour races, I tend to be a bit faster during the night stints. Maybe because there are fewer things to confuse me? Anyway, the night stages went alright-ish, and for the final stages I added a bit extra safety margin as I could see myself climbing steadily up the ladder once more.
Finishing the rally - objective completed. Looks like a P27 for me, and after two punctures and a few spins and other shenanigans ... I'm pretty happy!
Practice for Sweden will begin as soon as the mechanics has sourced out a complete new bodyshell, dampers, wheels, steering wheel and other bits for the car.

Oh man, I thought I was the only person with such a scenario! Rally Masters, it was good times
Especially with the FRM mod and installed hi-res skins on the cars.Anyhow, the rally was fun, getting to the finish line with minimum amount of errors was the target and I managed to achieve it as I expected. 2 small spins which made me loose some seconds, other than that the pace was to be at the finish line, especially that I have had a break from playing anything for a good 5 years or so. I think that ending in the middle of the pack is good enough, especially taking into consideration the amount of fun I had driving the stages
.I'm looking forward to the next event in the calendar! Not much time to practice though, so hoping to again be mid in the pack

I feel you mate, it was also in stage 11 when I was right behind you, in third place. Then I "barely" kissed a wall afer not even one minute driving and I got the puncture...
Ended up 17th, happy to be in the top 10% of the R5 class still, but sad because by removing the time I lost with the puncture (1:40) I could have been 5th...
But that's how rally works isn't it!

I'm trying to remember if I saw some marks on the tarmac it was unlucky indeed but as you say Sweden is next! and that's a great rally always
Already figured I would be ending up last from those finishing the Rally, given that I drove 80% of the Rally with a broken car, but I told myself that I'd finish the Rally even if it's gonna be slow so overall I'll take the experience of driving in the RDRC-2 Class and Sweden's gonna be the next Rally to fully attack.

Hey! P5 in J-RDRC for me! i'll take it. Gotta admit that Monte is one of my favourite rallies so i dont expect to be always THAT competitive but im still very happy with being just 16 seconds away from the class podium

Thanks a lot for the organisation for this wonderfull event
