Utzer on top down under
Taking his first win since the S24 Australian GP, Utzer confirmed his strong pace shown at the pre-season tests. Rookie and local hero Rosella finished 2nd, not being able to challenge Utzer it was still impressive, especially considering he didn't complete a single lap during the tests. Sigoulakis and Laad had an intense fight for 3rd. Laad had the upper hand, since Sigoulakis stressed his tyres too much, dropping down as far as 8th in the end. Wolf took 4th, passing Keranen in the closing laps. Mishra and Rossello had a close battle for 6th, the Tyrrell driver emerging victorious. Lutz took 9th, followed closely by Poirier and Rinneaho. Ancevski came home 12th, having started 15th he could pass the struggling Engberink, Laskey and Dovizioso. Said had to start from the pits due to technical problems, with a battered car he finished 15th, leaving Dovizioso behind him.
