Question about race start

On Laguna Seca this weekend, in Rookies, I noticed that some drivers were going wide in the first turn right out of the start.

Is it appropriate to drive hard into the first corner, if the driver ahead is going a little wide? There is certainly plenty of space, and no chance of impact, but it does force them even wider through the turn.

They might be doing this to avoid crashes with the pack, or not confident yet with the colder tires, but there is certainly a clear gap that opens up some of the time. Or is that considered "dive bombing" and you shouldn't look for those gaps?

Best,
Kris
