Qubic System - QS-BT1 Multi-purpose, Dual Channel, Direct Drive Seat Belt Tensioner

I am real happy with my 2" x 5 point harness in the BT1 and I have the 5th anti-submarine strap connecting over the front of the seat rather than thru the seat slot, saves wear & tear on the old meat balls & sausage plus it stops the waist belts riding up. Initially the shoulder belts were bit harsh on the neck area but I got a pair of belt covers/socks to pad them, much more comfortable and doesn't diminish the forces.

I found it is crucial to get the belts adjusted to be the exact same length & anchored to the mounting bracket per Qubics' instructions (updated on discord), that ensures you get equal & balanced pulling power on both sides. I mucked it up on initial install but got it right now and it is really good. Solid simracing product and great add-on for a motion system.

Based on advice here and on the official Discord.
I've updated my order for SABELT formula seat to include their 2x2 6 Point harness

I don't see me getting the BT1 to near the end or start of next year but that will give me time to work on my build and tactile installed.

Just my 2 cents worth but if you go over the front of your seat, 5 points is really good. If I had 6 point it would be too bulky the way mine is setup. After all, unlike racing irl, the 5th belt (&6th) is only to stop the harness getting pulled up your chest. Oh, one other thing, I have removed my tactile seat mat & buttkicker as the bt1 together with my Dk6 motion provides heaps of excellent tactile, no need anymore !

everyone who has used my dofreality h6 totally missed the gametrix jetseat vibrations even though i've set the vibration gain level to MAX. Even I miss out the vibrations in particularly lively driving sessions, wondering if its off or working, but then i focus on my butt and I can barely pick out the vibrations. I just placed an order for the qsbt1, I was already thinking of removing the jet seat from the sim picture. One less piece of software to run, one less usb connection. I'm running 13 usb connections at the moment. My pc hates me.

How do you conect a BT1 to a H6 ? I would not have thought they were compatible due to the way the dofreality frame is constructed, plus the BT1 is very heavy so it would throw out the balance.

I just placed the order for the qsbt1, its on back order so have yet to receive it. My h6 is the new one with sfu motors and kardans brakes. As per qubic, it should hold up. Dofreality says the new h6 with the sfu motors can hold 150kg including the driver without any problems. I am 86kg, the moza setup is about 17.5kg, the seat is maybe 6 or 7kg, the qsbt1 is 12kg approx, the hp reverb g2 is maybe 1 kg, 2kg for the jetseat, another 5 kg for the hotas maybe, totals to about 130kg, I think i should be within the weight limit of the h6. As to the question of whether it will fit the back of the seat, that is a good question, I dont know how it will fit with the included adapter. Might need some fabricated parts to connect the underside of the seat to the included adapter. Even if it does fit, Unless I attach it in a way that the device is above the h6 seat cradle, the seat will not be able to slide all the way back, that puzzle still needs solving. I suppose I will cross that bridge when I get to it.

Need help please. my QS-BT1 just arrived but I dont know hot to install my OMP harness 6 point to my sim rig and after to the QS-BT1. also I dont know if I need more hardware to install the harness. first time doing this.ty guys. I put some pictures for the contest

I was hoping for someone to answer your questions, I should get my BT1 tomorrow and I didn't even pull the belts outside of their box yet ;)

You likely need new eyebolts as most that come with harnesses are too large to install in the channels of your rig.

You can get m8 eyebolts very easily from Amazon or a hardware store(need m8 t-nuts too!). Then just install them to the rails appropriately for each harness end.

Some even just use washers and regular m8 bolts through the harness latch directly into the channel without issue too.

I just mounted the qs-bt1 to my rig (but didn't have the time to attach belts and try it yet).

However I wanted to ask if the provided bolts and washers leave the unit a bit "wobbly" for anyone else or did I do something wrong?

I don't think I can screw the included m8 bolts in the t-nuts anymore...but I was somehow expecting for the mounts to be more firm and tight to the rig - any views?

It should be noted that the first round of units had improper length m8 bolts included (m8x20mm instead of m8x16mm, which is what they should have been). Possible you were impacted and may need to source slightly smaller m8 bolts. (I had plenty left over to use from my rig build years ago)

Did your bolts bottom-out in the channel of your profile? Only way I can imagine it is loose is that the bolt length is too long to fit both the channel and washer leaving extra wiggle room when tightened. It stinks that happened, but they are correcting the issue on the next batch. Easy to get m8x16mm bolts though and cheap if that is the issue in your case.

But with the proper size m8 bolts mine is on stupid tight and definitely won't budge.

Thank you, this is exactly my issue! I will swap the bolts then

I also noticed another imperfection in the instructions, the belt buckle is upside down (note the 3 holes are not on the closed side like on the manual) therefore I am just assuming people put thme upside down as the bst1 attachment has 3 holes only on the external side?

Yea, seems there was a misprint there with the bolt holes(everyone only has 2 on the closed side). I still followed the instructions without issue without noticing and using the same orientation.

They also updated the instructions for the Belt installation recently per the official Discord for attaching the belt. Should be printed in next batch I think. There may have been some confusion in the community so the image below is an update with a bit more detail to assist.

Can you show some images of the front strap and how you mounted it...

Wondering about onwers thoughts with the update and initial improvements it offers.
Is their a specific sim that some find this works best with and how much varation in settings or creating different profiles for different sims or cars is necessary or if even required.

I only play Assetto Corsa, so I can't give say whether other games will work better or not. The main improvement that I can feel is that they scaled the "brake" feeling to be more in line with "sideway acceleration" and "centrifugal force".

I used to have brake set at 0.7, and sideways accel + centrifugal force at 0.9, in order for it to feel roughly equal. Now they feel the same at equal values. So that's pretty neat.

I don't bother creating profiles for different cars. I'm no longer simracing as competitively as I used to, and I like to drive a variety of cars. Keeping a global profile is much simpler to "arrive and drive", and it helps keep the G-forces coherent. That is, a street car with no aero is going to feel much weaker than a Formula 1 car.

Hey thanks for the feedback....
In general most will proably prefer to have a profile that works across multiple cars.

As you mention, cars that are slower, in acceleration/topspeed and cornering speeds will produce lower values in the telemetry. So cars that are faster or accelerate/brake better, should produce higher values which, should then produce a higher average in stronger felt sensations.
Does that seem right?

The same applies with tactile and a good profile or arrangement of settings is one that is balanced. By this I mean it can work well enough in the detail it produces with the lower speed cars but also not be overbearing with the faster ones too.

Within this, different users may alter to their own preferences and increase/decrease certain effects levels. I think that can even depend on peoples mood at the time what levels of intensity they may want or to determine the max output based on the cars/sim being driven.

Are owners finding that "tuned profiles" created by different people are working well?
Or do some of you find quite a difference to what some shared profiles feel like to what you personally like?

Yep, you're right about the faster cornering/braking cars having higher forces than their weaker counterparts.

Altering the strength of certain effects is something I would do if I really wanted to seek out the best laptime. I'd probably put more emphasis on cornerning grip and less on braking in order to better sense my cornering traction.

There aren't any shared profiles by users for Assetto Corsa for the BT1. The Qubic Manager program also controls their motion simulators, so most of the shared profiles were intended to share their motion platform setup. The dates on those shared profiles precede the release date of the BT1.

Discord has a lot of discussion on profiles for the belt tensioner specifically. From what I've read, most users tend to use a lot of the effects of the tensioner (if not all), whereas I keep it simple with only 3 effects activated: Braking, Sideways Acceleration, and Centrifugal Force. I think it's way too busy to have so many effects activated on this device.

What are you planning to upgrade this Black friday?

  • PC

  • PC Hardware (ram, gpu etc)

  • More games (sims)

  • Wheel

  • Shifter

  • Brake pedals

  • Wheel, shifter and brake in bundle

  • Rig

  • Something else?
