Welcome to RaceDepartment's Racing Club for Project CARS! Project CARS can be played on various platforms: PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and we'd like to facilitate and encourage our members to post challenging casual events for members by members.

Platform Prefixes
We now use Prefixes (which you will be required to select when creating a new race (thread).

Setting up a race
First of all start with a plan. Post a thread not at the final moment before you want to race but open it a couple of days in advance. Official RD events are always scheduled a week in advance for the highest change on success.

Secondly order your threads properly and try to make it as simple as possible. Not everybody wants to read a wall of text with requirements. Keep it simple, easy and friend.

Good luck and have tons of fun racing and we hope to see you on track soon!

Thanks for organising, that was so much fun :D

After a solid 30 mins of practice running consistently with no spins or crashes, I binned it on about lap 3 of the race  I pitted for repairs but also forgot to inform my pit crew I was going in, and had no idea what I was doing when I started selecting fuel, repairs etc so cost me even more time.

Luckily it wasn't about the result today, and it was great fun pushing to try and catch up with the other P2 drivers whilst navigating traffic, especially through the day/night transitions. Love multiclass racing and definitely interested in any leagues that are arranged.

Shame about the number of issues we had with the game, but this was only a trial run, and hopefully server load won't be as high in the future, and the issues will get ironed out. The actual racing though was fantastic, so looking forward to the next one.

My internet provider thought it was fun to disconnect my whole connection right when we went to qualy so i missed out and had to start from the back :)

Ya that kinda sucked. I was a little bit worried because about 10 laps into the race I started hearing a thunderstorm approaching and was crossing my fingers that the connection didnt get wonky.

Otherwise it was fantastic on my end. First time in the Ginetta and I had no pace at all, but I didn't really care. There are a ton of bugs they need to work out. The physics of the Ginetta seemed a bit wonky. Had two instances where I *should* have been able to catch the front end washing out. The first time the car just continued to slide around, and the second, instead of sliding around it ended up in a violent tank slapper. Looking forward to more RD races with pCARS!

This was a lot of fun. There's a lot of technical issues which spoiled it for a lot of people, annoyingly. I seem to have gotten lucky, as I raced today on 64 bit, and all my problems were finished after the final lobby opened. Except for a few FPS drops, the software held up well. Will turn my graphics settings down.

The day/night cycles are really nice in this. I don't think I've seen such radical temperature changes in day/night cycles in other sims before, but that added a really fun element of changing balance. I double stinted a set of soft tires which I couldn't raise above 70C during the night. The tire wear was pretty negligible over the distance though. I actually think I had LMP1 tires on my LMP2. That might explain a lot.

Class difference was a bit difficult. Maybe I had more wing than my LMP2 buddies, but there was GT3 cars who matched me on straights. The only way I could pass those was through turns. So if anyone got nervous about my sneaking through mid corner, I apologize, but at least now you know why. :) These settings looked good when I ran stints offline this morning. And now that everything's finished, I'm inclined to stand by them.

There's a few details I miss in the physics from other sims, mostly stuff in the tires. But what's there is functional and useable from what I saw. I hope we can get things figured out for other people's issues like @ajokay, because we have the recipe for many great races here. :D

This was my first race with race department and with this game it's the best experience I have had racing.
I qualified in 3rd, got a rubbish start after some bogging on the line but managed to avoid collisions and get 3rd back just waiting for the front two to make a mistake whilst battling for the lead but instead I lost it at eau rouge. I had to pit to repair my front wing, got myself a set of nice new mediums but as night fell my tire temps dropped and found myself sliding through all the corners. Near the end I have got into second but an Aston had much better grip and got past. However as the sun came up and my temps raised and his tires dropped off from wear I end up on his tail for over a lap and we are separated by less than a cars length across the line.

Just brilliant!

I have to say i didn't expected it to be that cool. The change from Daylight to Night / and from Night to the morning was really awesome, especially when you drove into the darkness that was just gorgeous. :)

Sadly someone crashed into my rear in the first Lap, after that i were like 2s slower / Lap, but however i didn't wanted to repair and lose that much time so i just kept going and tried to do the best i can with this car. Surprisingly, didn't expected that - the temps cooled during the Night which was awesome to see that this has an influence on the actual driving. I started sliding around like karting in every corner :D was fun to drive but in times this were 1-1,5s slower. Near to the end (morning) the temps and my Grip came back a little bit, don't know how much oft that was due to tire wear - hard to tell but in reality they do double Stints as well with those tires, which means like 2 hours of driving - so this isn't that unreal that the tires don't drop that hard. :)

For me it worked all pretty nice online, beside some bugs here and there with the Lobby at the start, sometimes i had very little lags after Bram wasn't the Host anymore but not that bad.

And btw i think those Penaltys after the Pitstops came from cutting the Pit Entry as i got that in Practice as well.

Spent an hour just trying to find the RaceDepartment server, but it didn't show up. I used the filter in the lobby, typed in RaceDepartment, but no luck. Restarted Steam several times, following a tip in this thread. Any idea? I think others had this problem as well.

My first race with Racedepartment - and well it was awesome! Apart from the server issues affecting everyone I only had this weird time penalty bug in practice. During the race I had like a minute where the framerates dropped a lot. Ahh and one extra thing...every freaking time I was exiting the pits the computer smashed me into the wall at the pit exit no matter how much I turned the wheel. I was on the standard 64-bit.

Being my first Racedepartment race and in addition being in one of the Astons I had to acclimatize a bit. Did not want to ruin the race for anyone, so took it pretty easy in the early stages. Really had to get used to the LMP1s being so fast! After doing some close inspection of the wall I had to pit at around lap 10. Unfortunately it got pretty messy. My damage was fixed but I managed to have max fuel as well as keeping my used mediums on... Not ideal, but apart from that the rest of the race was fantastic. Like others I had a drop in tire temperature during the night, but it wasn't that bad. Maybe because I had lowered the tire pressure a bit. Guess that was why I was able to close in on @Mysticturbo at the end of the race. Got past but I guess he managed to get more heat into the tires, and over the last two laps my old mediums died. Suddently he was faster than me, and we had an epic battle all the way down to the very last corner.

Even taking the bugs into consideration this was by far my best online racing experience!!
