Setting up a race
First of all start with a plan. Post a thread not at the final moment before you want to race but open it a couple of days in advance. Official RD events are always scheduled a week in advance for the highest change on success.

Secondly order your threads properly and try to make it as simple as possible. Not everybody wants to read a wall of text with requirements. Keep it simple, easy and friend.

Good luck and have tons of fun racing and we hope to see you on track soon!

Good race. I hope I didn't prevent someone else from joining... when we started the server was 30/32, so I stuck in and ran the whole race.

Anyone know how to change the in game name? I don't really want to alter my Steam name if I can help it (if that's where it gets it from).

That's your problem then bud. I had issues with online 64 bit the other night and I've read earlier that 64 bit is causing issues online. Try online with normal and see how you get on.
But I didn´t have problem with online. The problem I have is that when at desktop and starting PCars it starts but I get thrown back to the desktop. The game is still running it hasn´t crashed but you can´t alt-tab back to it.

I have found that rebooting my computer I can usually get the magic boot of PCars on a first try. But then it´s a game of luck getting it to stick. I did got it running on my 32nd attempt but you guys where already in the race then.

It was really nice race, I have enjoyed it, thanks everyone. See you in next race.

P.S. Shame that people have problems with disconnect and penalty bug... I hope SMS will fix it ASAP.

Amazing, bloody amazing. For my first proper multiplayer race in PCars, that was a sight to behold. Even with all the multiplayer teething issues and bugs, I think SMS have really nailed it. Racing my Marek LMP2 through all that was one of the most breathtaking experiences I've ever had in a racing sim.

After a bad qualifying session where all my laps were discounted due to crashes or cuts, and my final flying lap was cut short by 5 seconds because qualifying ended, I started 2nd last with Bram. Going through the field of GT cars on the first few laps was really something, getting up to my own class pretty quickly. Spun/crashed at the top of Eau Rouge on lap ~9, tried to pit to fix the suspension damage, but forgot that the pit strategy I had said to not fix any damage, so had to do another lap to fix it. After that, it was smooth sailing, other than a small incident with some GT cars where I got collected a little in a 4-car pileup, but managed to get past mostly unscathed. Was running mediums after my repairing pit-stop, and during the night I was struggling to get them anywhere close to temperature, the fronts hovering between 67-82 and the backs between 60-75. Still pretty grippy, but I had to watch my cornering. Finished 7th overall, and 4th in-class I believe (Would've been 3rd but the last two laps were cut short because of the leaders finishing. Damn you other Marek LMP2! :D).

Honestly a fantastic race, bugs aside. Can't wait to do more multiclass and endurance in the future.

I was waiting for 30 minuten af the exit of the pitlane and watching the sunset and nightfall, those cars blasting through with their headlights on. AMAZING VIEW! Simple amazing.

But I hope SMS will fix this penalty bug ASAP!

Congrats on the win Alex, very well driven and much more consistent in the night time than me. :)

The top 3 battle in general early on was great, it's a shame Davy dropped as it was a real three way race. It probably could have been 4 as well if Bram hadn't have dropped either!

Anyway, general positives are that the netcode itself on dedicated servers seems pretty damn good, even with high ping players like myself. There might be some collision box issues on the front and rear of cars but side to side contact seemed good.

The changing conditions were also very interesting. It surprised me how much the track temp dropped in the middle of the night. Maybe it was a little overblown but it was a challenge to race in. And graphically it looked great as we all know.

I still think the majority of cars a little lacking physics wise, but in the heat of driving a race it's kinda hard to notice such differences. The cars were still tricky to drive and believable.

As for the negatives, well, there's too many at this point sadly. The server crash (and the dedicated server setup in general...), the multiple dropouts from other players, the penalties...all of them need massive work. Also the pit system is really odd, I set a default refuel level that didn't apply and I had to quickly change on my way to my box.

Just gotta hope SMS don't pull a hit and run and leave the game buggy like Codemasters did with the F1 games even after patches. There's potential here that will go to waste if the issues persist.
