Be part of the revolution, motion gaming at it's finest, our introductory dev kit model "Portal" is a highly customised version of our original proof of concept hoverboard design. Currently estimated to hit the market at under 3.5k for like minded enthusiasts. Pre-orders and online registration estimated late 2023, first units shipped mid 2024.
 
Possible the decimal point is in the wrong place? Under $35k seems more like it.
We have a product scheduled to be announced late 2024 that will be closer to your estimate.

What we are putting together here is a Dev Kit. It's based on our original concept of using open source and high volume low cost components from the toy industry. By launching in this way we are able to attract technically capable people willing to join in early with us, we are fighting hard to keep our final price for the full kit to below our 3.5k target.

(Please note we talking about a 6-DOF flat top motion platform running at 400Hz . The static rig, wheel, seat and pedals are not part of this discussion. )

We recognise hundreds of applications for this technology, it's not only about motor sports, the system is so agile it's applicable to almost any game genre. If 6-DOF motion was to suddenly go High Resolution, we are talking about retina display equivalence. Human perception of vibrations caps out at between 400-500hz .

Kinemaniacs - Portal Development Kit

Current Features:

  • High-Performance Motors: Customized hoverboard motors transformed into efficient 21-bit servo motors, designed for precision and power.
  • Precision Motion: Micron resolution platform positioning accuracy achieved through 21-bit encoders, ensuring each movement is precise to the very bit.
  • Advanced Dual Motor Controllers: Utilizes oDrive controllers for advanced Field Oriented Control (FOC), delivering smoother and more accurate motion simulation.
  • Pneumatic Compensation System: Seamlessly integrates three individually ballasted industrial pneumatic pistons to counteract gravitational forces, enabling higher responsiveness and longevity of the motors.
  • Six Degrees of Freedom (6-DOF): Offers full range and granularity of motion, spanning all translational and rotational motions, enabling the simulation of all kinds of vehicles (terrestrial, aerial, marine).
  • Energy Recuperation and Efficiency: By incorporating a high-current capable energy storage subsystem, the simulator can recuperate and reuse both kinetic and dynamic energy, minimizing losses and increasing efficiency. The system requires single phase power even in 110v countries.

Assembly continues:

First thing that needed to get done was bolting the feet down to the ground. We strongly recommend this move versus the weighted option simply because of physics. The machine is capable of multi Gforce in all 6 axes. This requires an extremely sturdy base. Bolting the subframe to the feet comes next.

really liking the aspect of direct drive and the g force that can be used compared to other systems out there. Vibrations up to 400hz would be awesome for sim racing.
