New leaderboard for F1 2005 and 2007 seasons - 2005/2007 Leaderboard

There was no leaderboard for this era of F1. Personally I think this suits pretty good. There's still a bug (that was in the original modern Leaderboards that I used as a base) in driver comparison. It doesn't pick up the correct driver from the grid and shows the gap to wrong drive name. I can easily fix that when I have more time.

Driver surnames completely visible. I used the colors to match the ones that were used in 2005 and 2007. The...

I kind of have to disagree though, there was a leaderboard but not like the current one.

The tower consisted only of first-three-surname-letters (like today) but it was not on the screen the whole time like nowadays plus included only top 10:

(additionally, there was another mode where they displayed the full field in the tower when showing progress - first were places 1-11, then 12-22 and so on)

Then you had periodically displayed timings when the leader started another lap, and thats when the whole field was displayed (it moved to the left when two columns were full and further positions had to be shown):

Both pics are from 2007 Canadian GP.

Yeah I know I might sound like "reeee fix it" but in reality the idea is generally good (we don't have app replicating leaderboard from that time AFAIR) but not historical per se (and yes, I know about the limitations).

Yes I have watched the races from the era a lot when I created the period correct track skins. That vertical leaderboard in your second picture looks great. It showed the first eight and then scrolled left for the next eight. I wonder if it could be implemented to AC so that the driver cockpit view wouldn't suffer. Hmm...

I took the colors from that era.

And I meant that there was not any kind of leaderboard done for the AC (from this era), not that there wasn't a leaderboard.

I was planning to do that at first but I'm not really good with coding. I can do something but it's very slow as I'm a dummy. If someone can move the leaderboard to the correct position and make it scrollable to the left I can easily do the graphics.

I mean we have like 50 modern leaderboards but ZERO for the golden era of F1. That is a crime, isn't it? :D

Any takers... we also need this for the 90's and early 2000's. That can be easily done too if we just had a scrolling vertical leaderboard positioned correctly. I can do anything with Photoshop I'm just terrible with code.

I would love to do the 80's and 90's too. These are SimHub based and from a pay site Patreon. I don't really dig the SimHub. This python CM-operated system is much more convenient. If someone is enthusiastic with classic F1 and wants to help with the coding I can do the graphics.

Apocalypse2112 updated New leaderboard for F1 2005 and 2007 seasons with a new update entry:

1.2

Included the correct folders with Frutiger font so it installs automatically to correct place to avoid confusion. Also updated the instructions and removed useless graphics from RACE FLAG banner (that was left there accidentally).

TO DO: To move the top 8 drivers to the center below to make it all authentic with genuine 2005 and 2007 seasons. It requires some coding which I'm not good at. If someone is willing to help with the code we could make this 100% authentic looking. With drivers...

Thank you for this, we really need the yellow one from the 90s/00s era. There are other leaderbords from more modern era that only use the three letters instead of the whole surname, maybe those guys can help.

I can do all of those if I just get some Python help. If someone can code so that the top 8 goes to the bottom below and alternates the view between positions 1-8, 9-16 and the rest I can easily do the graphics. Too bad classic F1 is bit of a marginal interest in the AC community and I haven't found anyone to work with me.

Goddamn, didn't think my argument would still be alive.
Well, why not going for a compromise and having an exactly 2005-8 styled tower - so with all these narrow blocks, three letters that cannot be changed to anything else, to the right the time on black, to the left the place on grey, backward lap counter at the top, everything narrow as it was, no logos, and that's all?

Yes it won't be as real as it gets, but it would be the mix of being the closest and most useful. The sliding one could be hard to code so such compromise seems viable.

Actually it wouldn't even have to be sliding. Just something that would mainly show the top-8 and the positions 9-16 and the third screen pos. 17-21 would alternate there once a minute or so. I would think it's a few hour job MAX for someone who's familiar with Python.

I'm done with this now until someone comes up with the code that can move it to bottom. Then we could make it 100% authentic looking. It looks pretty ok for being vertical. At least the color schemes and basic look is now there. Cheers.
