Welcome to the RD Racing Club.

Of course Laguna Seca can't be missed in a Tour d'America!
After last weeks milk run now something more challenging. Experienced wine drinkers may have an advantage here as they know how to handle a corkscrew.
Interesting to know is that yhe name Laguna Seca is Spanish for dry lagoon: the area where the track now lies was once a lake, and the course was built around the dry lake bed.
If you don't anticipate on the low grip and the cold tyres, you probably will eat a lot of sand in the first lap!

Please pay attention to the car and track configuration. Conditions will not be optimal at the beginning of the sessions, but will be improved to 100% after about 20 minutes..

So join us for another exciting race and:

Sign up here (Password: same as last week, otherwise post here and I will send you a PM with it.):

It's important that you also join us during the event on Discord for additional information and instructions. Link is below.

Especially the new and inexperienced drivers are recommended to participate. There are a lot of learning opportunities like overtaking and blue flag situations but without the intensity and stress of the GT3/4 cars or the endurance multiclass cars. It's also good step up for those kind of events.

THE GT3/GT4 EVENT ON SUNDAY WILL ALSO TAKE PLACE HERE ON THIS TRACK!
By joining here you can learn the racelines, overtake spots and even the brakepoints of the track in a car that's less demanding than the GT3/GT4 and have a lot of fun at the same time.

Server information:
  • Practice Server: #04 (Available throughout the race week) Password: dunlop
  • Race server: S.GP Password: dunlop
  • 20:00 CEST, 19:00 BST (19:00 UTC) | 1 hour 15 minutes - Official Practice
  • 21:20 CEST, 20:20 BST (20:20 UTC) | 20 minutes - Qualification (10 min TT, 10 min MX5)
  • 21:40 CEST, 20:40 BST (20:40 UTC) | 45 minutes - Race
IMPORTANT:
  • Qualify is split (not forced, gentleman's agreement). First 10min for the Audi's, second 10min for the MAZDA's. Don't go on track in the window of the other car class or you will be kicked from the session.
  • Blue Flags: If an MX5 driver gets a Blue Flag from an Audi, he has to stay on the racing line to be predictable. You can help the Audi by lifting on a straight, but you don't have to! The Audi driver is responsible for a safe overtake. Losing time doing this is part of the game and applies to any Audi. If you receive a blue flag from your own class, the normal rules apply.

Event details:
  • Cars: Audi TT Cup/Mazda MX5 Cup

Been looking forward to an outing in the MX5 , but this circuit is another of my, I don’t like circuits.
I would almost certainly cork screw myself here.
I think I stand a better chance of survival in the Audi.:)
This track and especially the Corkscrew is much easier with the MX5. The Audi suffers from understeer in the off camber turns.

I've signed up but am extremely limited for practice time. I managed a brief stint last night. Enough to know that I struggling, even though I know the track I don't have a feeling for how to get through most of the corners rapidly.

If I think I will be dangerous (lots of off tracks so far) I will withdraw.

Douglas,

I think that will go for more participants. Me for instance. I have the Classic Formula 1 event on Tuesday. I think my first practice will be about 20 minutes before qualify. Starting as a backmarker will make sure you will not be dangerous for others and gives you time to get to know the track better before the Audi's are going to lap you.

Hi guys, I‘m new to racedepartement and would need the password for singing up to this event. Cheers and see you on track
Hi Johnny,

Welcome. Nice to have you! But first you have to register your real name in your RDaccount/account details. It's one of our rules. It should be identical to the name you're using on S.GP.

After you have done that, please send me a PM or post here again and I will provide you with the pasword.

Good point, at least I know where the track goes. I will race, even without additional practice, if I can on Wednesday. My new kitchen installation will be finished soon so there is a chance that on Wednesday I will be putting everything back together again, so we will see.
