mouse problem

Hi guy's,

i have a mouse problem and i have no clue what can be the problem, i'm running windows XP home edition SP3 with all the updates made. the problem is that my mouse suddenly stop working ( the laser is not showing ), i have a USB and a PS2 laser mouse and they both do it, in order to get it back to work again i have to unplug it and plug it back in and sometimes even if i do it the mouse doesn't work or i get a message that the periphical is not recognize. one mouse is a logitech ( PS2 ) and the other is a microsoft ( USB ). any ideas what can be the problem ?

for both mouse i'm using the default windows driver.

My friend has this problem once, and he cleared this with a full system spyware scanning, after clearing some nasty spyware, his problem was fixed.

its not the problem, clean install of Windows and it still doing it, very annoying
