Motion compensation for VR.

Hello Good Day,

Currently I'm racing a lot on Assetto Corsa using a Lenovo Explorer VR glasses;

I really like Assetto and also the glasses are comfortable and have an easy
'inside out' tracking system (camera's placed on vr glasses);
The tracking of the VR set can do both translating and rotations.

Now I'm planning to build a motion rig; but I'm worried that the motions
will interfere with the VR glasses; I mean with this that
if my chair is moved I'll end up aside the car and also this
could cause blurry images at rapid movements;

I can think of the following solutions;

- Motion correction by software; I don't think this is feasable
the motion app can do all kind of scaling and profiles; I think this software
will only read the signal of the Assetto telemetry; I don't think there is feedback
from the motion app to Assetto to do image correction (is this assumption correct?).

- Put the VR tracking in a mode to only do rotational tracking;
I think this will solve the issue; but I will also loose some emmersion.

- Buy a new VR set with Lighthouses tracking system;
Quite expensive; but I believe good correction software will be availabe.

- Make on the moving part of my rig panels (that move along with the rig); in order to make the tracking system
believe the panels are the fixed reference and solve the motion correction mechanical.

- Buy a track IR 5 camera and use this for the tracking the translations instead of the camera;
The track Ir 5 camera to be mounted to the moving rig.

Does anyone know a good solution for motion compensation for VR sets with inside out tracking?.
What is the best way to solve this for Assetto Corsa?.

Many thanks in advance.

Regards, fhoos

If you have a CV1 you can just mount the sensor to the platform.

There are 2 different open-motion cancellation that use Lighthouse.

There is also built-in motion compensation in SRS's new software.

With only a seat mover I've not found any reason to use motion compensation because your neck tends to work like a gimbal and keeps your head in about the same place. I've been using VR from day one. First a Rift and now an Index and they work well with VR and my NLRv3.

For a chassis mover with lots of range or one with surge and/or traction loss it could be a much bigger deal though.

I've have heard about good motion compensation systems.

The NLRv3 has a software based system that calculates where it thinks your head should be based on some customizable parameters. I don't use it, but it's there.

Other systems use a hand controller or recently even an inexpensive accelerometer.

The easiest way for motion compensation and motion platform would be using SRS...
