Misc More Competitive AI for Nürburgring & Istanbul Park

Hello guys,

many of us are surely already racing at the two "new" tracks, brought by Derpish
http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/threads/nürburgring-istanbul-park.72104/

But you surely noticed the weak performance of the AI. Neither Derpish nor I are good in modifying braking points & AI [I asked hill and snthennumbers if they'd do it] but I've taken a look at the F1 2011 section [where the tracks come from] and found a promising one by Kristian Nenov
http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/threads/kristiannns-ai-mod-v2-0.49284/

With his files, the AI is ~2 sec faster (there was another mod, but there the AI is even slower than w/o mod)
[for best time results better modify the "track_difficulties" at the database additionally, for me I've set 0.737 for Nürburgring and 0.777 for Istanbul playing on intermediate]
Sadly, the AI still has some issues at corner #3 at Nürburgring and the last three corners at Istanbul Park; so it's not perfect but much more competitive than now.

Instructions:
  1. Download the original mod:
    http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/threads/kristiannns-ai-mod-v2-0.49284/ [original modthread]
    http://www.mediafire.com/?ivx15d2452o5xwy [v. 2.3 original link, not mine]
  2. Extract the mod
  3. Copy and override
    • tracks\circuits\istanbul\route_0\ai_vehicle_track.xml
    to/with
    • X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\F1 2012\tracks\circuits\istanbul\route_0\ai_vehicle_track.xml
  4. Copy and override
    • tracks\circuits\nurburgring\route_0\ai_vehicle_track.xml
    to/with
    • X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\F1 2012\tracks\circuits\nurburgring\route_0\ai_vehicle_track.xml
You do not need any other files from the 2011 AI mod. This workaround is not perfect, as stated before, but it's already an improvement for these two tracks.

All credits to their respective owners! This thread is just for having a temporary improvement of the AI in Nürburgring & Istanbul Park until we have adjusted files for that, so they don't struggle at specific corners [especially when using any 2012 AI mod].

Update:

snthennumbers released a new update of his AI mod, including Istanbul & Nürburgring:
  1. Download the original mod:
    http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/resources/true-to-life-ai.50/update?update=878 [original modthread]
  2. Extract the mod
  3. Copy and override
    • tracks\circuits\istanbul\route_0\ai_vehicle_track.xml
    to/with
    • X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\F1 2012\tracks\circuits\istanbul\route_0\ai_vehicle_track.xml
  4. Copy and override
    • tracks\circuits\nurburgring\route_0\ai_vehicle_track.xml
    to/with
    • X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\F1 2012\tracks\circuits\nurburgring\route_0\ai_vehicle_track.xml
You do not need any other files from the 2012/2013 AI mod. Istanbul works like a charm, Nürburgring is still doing funny thing at lap #1 corner #3.

Compared:

Istanbul:
True To Life AI drives ~2 sec faster than KN 2011 which means ~4 sec faster than default;
but I had 4 DNF with broken engine (I never had before, raced this track very often)

Nürburgring:
True To Life AI drives ~1,4 sec faster than KN 2011 which means ~3,5 sec faster than default

So, it's up to you, what to choose (for those who don't already use the 2013 mod and/or True To Life AI.

This is just to let other Staff know that I am aware of this thread, and though there is no actual download associated with it directly (under the new system), I am letting it stand as it linking back to an old F1 2011 mod.
