Monaco 67 by Fero, culmone , box, aiw, CTDs, etc

well... I hope to get to the point (and not forget anything)

monaco 67 (the version that comes in the trackpack 67 (it's on google)... I think it's the one we all know "by fero" (or "culmone")... anyway, it's visually nicer.

there are several "versions" and editions of it
-in the trackpack 67
-in the trackpack 65 v3.0 (it has an important edition, including the aiw)
-here in racedepartment there is an improvement of AIW

well.. here come the problems:

1
using the mod F1 Classic 67... it has 27 cars, but in the pitlane they overlap one another... I think the limit is 24 (I think) (maybe it's not a serious problem. in real life in 1967 only 19 cars ran that race)

2
another problem is that after a while (during the (classification) a car (randomly) changes its name...by "random letters". for example: jack brabham, he does the classification, then stops in the pits, after a while, his name is modified with random letters, the car seems to want to move... and the end is a CTD. (crash to desktop)
(and this is NOT a problem with the mod "f1 classic"... because it happens even with default cars (this circuit + the base game)... it's usually the last car or cars that are in the pitlane... specifically one that moves its wheels wanting to leave... but doesn't do anything)

3
MONACO in any year and in any game (however different it is) is difficult for the AI...(the pit box, the pit lane, the walls, yellow flags etc etc).... maybe a different box should be made (obviously not realistic but much more COMFORTABLE):
that the pit/box for changing tires and fuel is "there", before the finish (as it really was)....but the place where the cars are "stored" is somewhere else.

this would make the SPACE available on the main straight much better.

Advantages:
-cars turning the last corner would not crash into the pit lane (or enter it by accident)
-cars leaving the track would not appear on the main straight
-cars going into the pit lane to change tires and refuel would have THAT space available without fear of being hit.

The perfect example of this is NURBURGRING 67:

It has a car storage site UNDER the track...and via a ramp, all AI cars exit to the finish line...if they want to stop to refuel or refuel...they go to the normal pit lane. If they leave (a crash for example) they do not obstruct the pit lane (which is narrow)...when leaving they are taken to the storage site.

About Monaco 67...my solution would be that a similar site (a "car storage site") is right on the last corner of the circuit (looking towards the finish line). So they go "fluidly" to the finish line, do laps, classify, and when they want to enter the pit... they enter the pit lane at the finish line and automatically reappear at the storage site.

clearly it's not realistic to have a "storage garage" under the track or in the last corner... but -again- this would solve once and for all the problem of having a VERY narrow main straight due to having 3 lanes (the race lane, the pit box lane with the mechanic, and the storage lane) (we would take the storage lane somewhere else.

Any ideas??

In the image:
what is in red is the real thing... what is currently there.
What is in green would be the possible location.
This would allow you to have more cars on the track... the racing lane would be wider.
(in addition to GOING through the pit box and its pit lane "a little" closer to the wall)

All this would solve the car crashes.

Do you prefer licensed hardware?

  • Yes for me it is vital

  • Yes, but only if it's a manufacturer I like

  • Yes, but only if the price is right

  • No, a generic wheel is fine

  • No, I would be ok with a replica
