Issues after PC rebuild in and out of VR

Hi All

bit of a strange one this, I have had RF2 working for some time on my PC, and had to carry out a machine rebuild. after the clean install of windows 10 and RF2 it appears that the sim has developed issues.....

I have spent 5 hours today already trying to figure out what the issues is, making all the changes that i can find on the web and nothing seems to make a difference.

The issue I am having I thought was due to using VR but after the clean install i have tried to run the sim up on the screen and the same issue occurs.

RF2 launches fine, loads the track up fine (all workshop content has been removed and only trying to load real RF2 content) if i select RACE i load into the car and i'm able to drive without issue, when i want to change car or head back to the menu screen RF2 locks up, and im forced to sign out of windows

if i try to make a change in the settings, be it FFB related or anything, the game freezes and i'm forced to sign out of windows and reload again. This happens on every car and every track since the rebuild of the PC.

before the rebuild I was able to enjoy every track and car in and out of VR without issue....
doesn't matter what build of RF2 is used the issue is the same.

PC specs and equipment used are:

Strix 370-F gaming Mobo
8700k overclocked to 5.2Ghz (issue happens with or without clock)
Gskill 8933Mhz ram
Strix 1080TI OC edition - a number of different NVidia drivers have been tried and same issues
Large Mige Simracingbay motor running SimuCube FW, fanatec rims, Heusinkveld pro pedals
HTC VIVE, or Predator 34p screen.

any help would be great, as i say i have been all over the net trying things but hopefully someone has a fix.

Thanks
Gary

Think I read somewhere (recently) that people with OSW were having similar issues. Try unplugging it and rebooting, just to see if you can identify/narrow down where the problem is. I could be miles out, but it's worth a try (IMO).
Cheers

Denis.....you are a rockstar!.....

it turns out that it wasn't the OSW wheel as such, but the box of tricks that allows me to use the fanatec wheels with the OSW. After i unplugged the USB that connects the box of tricks to the PC, everything started to work. The fix appears to be changing the USB port and installing FANALEDS, having FL start up with windows seems to take the issue away completely!

I can now go back to the track after a day of trying to sort the issue out...thank you for the assist!

Wow! Well I dredged that up from somewhere. :roflmao:
I'll keep an eye out for the thread where I originally came across this issue, and link back to this thread. I'm really please to have been able to help.
Good luck and keep me posted on any further developments.
Nice one. :D

Could you provide us with some more info on that specific hardware combination? It might help to report that to whoever made it. I don't think we have it at S397 so at this point it would be hard for us to even reproduce the issue.

Hi marcel

The unit I have is one of these, https://www.simracingmachines.com/WebShop/custom-made-fanatec-conversion-kit

Just to note it is a fantastic piece of kit and this is the only issue I have had with it. Other sims have worked fine after the rebuild so I'm not trying to put a downer on the device at. All.

If you need any testing done please let me know!

I'm not sure what kind of testing we could do beyond what you already did and reporting those steps to the manufacturer of this piece of hardware. Glad you found a workaround. At least others facing this issue will be able to do the same based on the description you've shared.
