Hybrid Engine in GTR2 is possible?

Hello,

in GTR2 is it possible to have the engine with the hybrid system as found on the WEC Hypercars?

Let me explain better: can this system be reproduced entirely in the ENG file or create an ENG file with a second file linked, for example, ENG-HY? And could all this then be controlled from the cockpit of the car? Are there Mods that reproduce this or is it impossible for all this to work in a game like GTR2?

Thanks for your attention and your information.

A car will use only the eng file specified in the hdc file. You can give the eng file whatever torque curve you want, so a top end boost to simulate turbocharging, or a midrange boost for supercharging, etc., but you are limited to one file. GTR2 predates common use of hybrid drives. As all eng data (and hdc, veh, tyr, talent, etc.) is loaded when the game first loads I doubt there is any viable way to switch any of this once a car is selected, would probably cause a CTD.

So GTR2 does not support Hybrid engines. However, this is exactly the focus area of Crew Chief GTR2 Enhancements Plugin - improving the realism. Plugin already implemenets some things that simply did not exist when GTR2 was released, you can see what here: https://thecrewchief.org/downloads/gtr2/GTR2_CC_EP.pdf

However, while I am interested in implementing some support for hybrid engine, I will not be able to do it alone and I need help:

* physics/mechanical/math advice - how should engine behave? Ideally, same person would test the feature and provide feedback.

* Minimal 3D modeling for new LCD screen elements. This is easy part (even 3DSimED is enough) and CCGEP already supports modern elements so adding more is easy, still it would be nice if experienced modder takes care of this part (you don't wanna see textures created by me).

If anyone interested to help please ping me at CCGEP Discord.

Do you prefer licensed hardware?

  • Yes for me it is vital

  • Yes, but only if it's a manufacturer I like

  • Yes, but only if the price is right

  • No, a generic wheel is fine

  • No, I would be ok with a replica
