How much aero is in the game engine?

Perhaps someone from the mod community can answer this....

I was thinking about the 2008 F1 season and all the "winglets" they added to cars during the season to get the best aero and such and I was wondering how much effect the aero of the cars has to do with how they drive in Evo?

I realize the default cars are all balanced, but what about mod cars?

If you took 2 identical engines and put them in aerodynamically different chassis, would they drive differently? Would the one with better aero be faster? Handle better? Get more downforce, etc?

Or are we just driving engines with rear wings?

You can create the F1 aero physics with Evo. In rFactor you can have track packages for when the teams upgraded whatever aero parts at certain tracks, so it should be possible with Evo as it uses the same game engine.

Yes ( but also depends on other things with the physics to )

No.

Yes, it would run faster (more top speed) in most cases, but not necessarily handle better... these two things are quite independent of each other...

I had to reduce the "handling" on the Escort V8 Challenge cars via (amongst other things) reducing the aero drag on the rear wing with respect to sideways forces...

How would I go about doing this? I've been wondering about this for a while now, but I've never posted to see if you can do it. I don't have rFactor, btw.
