Help with picking a Simulation Racing Game

Hi all, am very new to simulation racing games on the PC. I would like a bit of a point in the right direction as to a good sim racing game. I really like the look of Race Series as i enjoy WTCC, i am looking for a game with great "realism". I would like a game that has a good on-line following as well as good 1 player races.

Any help appreciated, Chris

Welcome, If i had to choose a race game for offline, it has to be GTR2 from Simbin http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=GTR+2+FIA+GT+RACING+GAME if not only for the driver lessons/education it offers (hours of fun and also learn how to do it). with the game being a all singing and dancing sim it has it all night and day races, and to many mods to mention, and with any money left over theres GTL for 99 pence or something like that at http://www.gameseek.co.uk/pd/PCbjq616n1x5uqgeqr/ or gtr simbins first racer i think http://www.gameseek.co.uk/pd/PC04njxu0j3v980hxr/GTR_-_FIA_GT_Racing_Game (i dont know if this works on win7 x64 ) all three titles are old games but they have something special about them... or you can always buy Raceon which is also very good... or the other option is to download all the demos and find which one appeals to you and go from there for online,

Thanks for this information. How are they as on-line games also? Is GTR2 expandable? The reason I like Race 07 is it covers a number of different race programmes, does GTR2 have this also?

Cheers Chris

Both Race 07 and rFactor is a good choice for online play, especially if you join our club! For offline play Race is better. Also it has a lot more default content, made by Simbin, in quite good quality. rFactor is much more a mod based game, you can find a lot of quite unique things for it, but AI isn't that good in that one. Race has weather, rFactor has night racing. I believe GTR 2 has both, and I'm sure it has some great AI and nice quality content too (although only GT cars as default content), just like the other Simbin games. Unfortunately GTR 2 only crossed my life as a demo, I have all other games by Simbin. The only thing I'm not sure about GTR 2 is the online part, I don't know how many people play it online still. Or there's GT Legends too, it has some events here too at the Historic racing club, if you like classic cars that can be also a good choice. (but GT legends doesn't have weather again)
As you said you like WTCC however, I would recommend Race 07 and it's addons, as it has a lot of touring car content, and a lot of touring car events in the club!

Sweet.....
Theres loads to do in this game with looads of mods to play with, i found a motec device very usefull (to get the tyres to the righ temp)

Can I vary the question slightly? Sorry if this is a noob question, but that's because I'm a noob...

Which PC game has the most accurate physics? And which has the greatest ability to build your own cars?
