Skins Helmet Skins Not Showing

Hey all,

I recently installed this great F1 1998 mod:

BUT, many of the helmet skins do not appear (helmet instead appears with default black colour). Some of them do work correctly, and I noticed that they had files entitled "Helmet_1985", rather than "Helmet_2012". I adjusted the title of a non-showing helmet from 2012 to 1985, and it worked, the helmet showed up.

But annoyingly it does not fit (too small).

The drivers whose helmets that DON'T WORK, their helmets are stored elsewhere in assettocorsa\content\texture\driver_helmet\HELMET_F1\1998

Their skin.ini file appears to be in order:

[driver]
SUIT=\plain\yellow
GLOVES=\sparco_racecars_Tide_RG9\black
HELMET=\HELMET_F1\1998\Hill

But I can't get their helmets to show up. Everything else appears to work correctly.

I spent many hours researching this and fiddling but no avail, hoping someone more knowledgeable can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!

In skin.ini the [driver] part is obviously wrong, that is the driver model with 2012 helmet and HANS. It has to have the same driver model that the car uses. Like if the mod uses driver_80 then skin.ini must have [driver_80] or it doesn't work (in the actual game, in CM showroom it does)

2012 helmet and 1985 helmet have different templates. Changing the texture name makes the texture appear on the helmet but it won't work correctly because of the different templates. CSP can be used to easily change driver model, or you can use a different helmet texture

Strangely, it appears the mod WAS designed around the 2012 helmet.

The issue was being caused in the car's driver3d.ini.

After changing the [Model] Name= and cycling through the available driver models, the correct answer was driver_no_hans

I will reupload the mod with this change intact and hopefully save some other folks some time!
