A message to all Drivers

If you run off track, you have to check to see that its clear before you re enter the track. Do not just keep the gas pinned and pull back on track.

When entering the track from the pits, stay off the racing line until you are up to speed. Do not race on your out lap, let other drivers by. On re-entering the track stay off the racing line until you are up to race speed and do not block any fast approaching car.

Always try to re-enter the track parallel to the racing line.

Golden Rule
  1. If you hit somebody off the track and carry on like nothing happened, you take the risk of being banned for 30 days.
  2. Instead, you should always wait for the affected drivers, and that way you can be 100% sure you will not get a ban.
Track limits
  1. No more than 2 wheels over the white/yellow line without a lift of the gas please.
You will be penalized if you break our rules
Note: Please use your full real name in Discord. Not doing so may result in you being kicked from the server if an admin cannot identify you as a premium member.

I am in @Interslice thanks. I missed a few GT3s last month, what was the conclusion in the end with the whole damage conversation? I see its on 10% above so was the consensus to leave it as it is.

Going to try the 911 out again for this one.

Ye the general consensus was that 10% was more suited to the social/club racing here. Higher damage is maybe the way to go on a purely click to join platform, which thankfully we havn't become since moving to s.gp. Nearly everyone is involved with the forums/PMs/voice comms.

Hey all, just thought I would share something maybe you know about but maybe you don't.

https://smoothtrack.app/

I just set this up as I have been looking for ways to get better vision during driving. All I can say is WOW for $12 CAD this great.

Its not VR, but the sure makes a difference in the emersion and vison when driving.

Maybe I will have less contact with others when I can see them better!

Cheers.

Do you have triple screens?
Does is effect frame rate?

Had a go with using the webcam as a tracking device by following these instructions...

Not sure if I like it yet! I have three monitors anyway so have a pretty good field of vision. I'll keep on playing around.

I went back to the screen for the ginetta race after 6 months of VR. There is certainly pro's and cons to being able to look left and right. Moving your head gives a more natural driving style and you can learn tight corners quicker by being able to look into them and see the late apex. Overtaking/battling is also easier as you can glance to see where your victim is if he's run wide or whatever!
The disadvantage is picking up oversteer and understeer visually becomes more difficult so you have to start to become more in tune with your FFB to drive a car at it's limits. Not sure swivel head improves your ultimate pace around a track depending on how tuned in you are to the wheel forces.

The main thing with any head tracking or VR is it needs to be 100% steady. If it starts drifting or moving even slightly of it's own accord, it's no good to you.

Hey guys, I have a single 32" curved monitor. I agree with Brian's assessment on the use of tracking and the oversteer/understeer.

So far my experience is this system is steady with no drift or unwanted movement, I am using the USB option so the phone is directly connected.
It will take some getting used to, I am happy with the added visual field.

After trying it for a bit it certainly hasn't helped my lap time so I'm abandoning it for now. The system has a bit of lag so it's quite distracting. I have a large fov with three monitors so it's not really necessary.

Interesting tech though

I've switched my car from the McLaren to the 911... I thought I'd switch it up but I just don't feel the car the same way. The 911 feels a lot more rotatable with mid corner corrections, though this could be me. Even without making any changes I am 2 seconds quicker and way more confident in overtaking the AI.

So far I haven't gotten below 1:58 yet but I have a few corners that I know I can take a bit faster. Hopefully I can make it sunday, this is a fun track.

I am going to swap to the Z4.. Apart from the 911 is proving hard to tame on this track I get really bad VR performance with it...

That's definitely a good choice for this track, just took it out for a spin and on the third lap I already managed to improve the 911's 1:56.6 time. Though you do need to keep pushing the intermediate tires to keep the heat in them. I noticed that they cool quickly. The softs have a habit of getting too hot though...

I really love this track, already drove 560km' on it this week.

Looks, like I have to pull out of this race. :( I sure like the track and was looking forward to the drive. I would have to consider this a home track for me as I grew up in Ottawa about a 1 hour drive from Calabogie. Unfortunately we moved west in 1989 and the track didn't open until 2006. There is also a small ski hill in the area that is quite popular.

This track has a sound track as well;

Have fun! see you next week.
