Polyphony Digital have launched a new trailer for Gran Turismo Sport that confirms a release day of October 17th for the highly anticipated new title.

Delayed from it's initially anticipated launch of late 2016, Gran Turismo Sport will be the seventh iteration of the incredibly popular PlayStation racing game franchise. Built with a focus on organised online multiplayer in mind, and backed with official endorsement of the FIA, GT Sport looks set to be a departure from the ingredients that made the franchise such a phenomenal success these past 20 years.

Now with the launch of a brand new trailer, fans finally have a confirmed release date for the first PlayStation 4 version of this legendary racing series. According to Polyphony Digital, Gran Turismo Sport will be available to purchase in North America from October 17th, with European and Australian players gaining access to the title a day later on October 18th, and Asia the following day.

The game looks set to contain a respectable 170 + cars on launch, playable on 29 unique racing locations featuring a mix of real world iconic tracks plus new and returning fantasy Gran Turismo exclusive locations.

Additionally Polyphony have confirmed the new game will feature limited PlayStation VR support in 'VR Tour Mode', alongside three playable game modes within the main software menu. Campaign, Sports Mode and Arcade will offer players the ability to race in the more traditional single player campaign scenario as well as in multiplayer racing, organised multiplayer and sponsored events. The game boasts many high profile licence agreements, now including the essential licence to reproduce a number of iconic Porsche models, with more details of upcoming cars and a full launch day list of vehicles to follow in the coming weeks.

Gran Turismo Sport will release exclusively for Sony PlayStation 4 October 17th 2017.
