GRANTHAM International Circuit - GTR2 Fictional UK Track

GRANTHAM INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT v2.0 by Caribstu of Ripe Banana for GTR2
======================================

This is not a commercial project, and these tracks are free to use.
Grantham is the fourteenth of my 20 tracks to be released.

ABOUT THE TRACK

Grantham is a fictional circuit inspired by Fulbeck Kart Track, near Grantham, Lincolnshire, UK.
The track is 'inspired' and not a 100% representations. It has been scaled up for cars, elevation added, and set as a fictional...

It's not possible to engage in a chat in reviews. It's better to post this type of problem in discussion where we can chat and try to resolve the issue.

I know there is an issue with the car dropping into the garage, this is primarily caused by a delta between the AIW Z value and the model Z value, which is mentioned in the track description. It can be fixed but takes an incredible amount of time, altering the Z value by increments of 0.01 at a time. The fix will be made and released as an update. However it should not cause the car to flip, or stop it leaving the pits.

In development I've done probably 100 races and have not encountered that issue.

Which car are you using? Have you tried using other cars?

I've tested the track using Formula Ford, eSport Ford Focus, HHEC, FM Honda Civic, Aus V8, and several 60s/70s classic cars (Triumph, Escort, Opel Manta) If you have any of those could you try loading the track with them and see if you're able to drive it.

You can respond here in Discussion so we can try and fix the problem.

Having solicited feedback from some users on Trackaholics, It seems the dropping into the garage is more of a problem than i thought. Depending on the car used, will determine the force of the issue. some cars have no problem at all, others end up unable to drive.

I'll work on fixing the issue, as well as the LONG circuit version without the chicanes. Hopefully can get that update released in the next couple of weeks.

Tried it with your beloved Mini and it worked (albeit the car still jumped a bit). I was running a Toyota TSO--it didn't like that one!

Jeff

PS: No criticism was intended since I LOVE your tracks and run every one of them.

Hi Jeff
It's all good mate. Feedback is important. I was totally unaware of how bad the problem was, but after you brought it to my attention i posted up in trackaholics and discovered a number of other people were suffering the same issues.

I've since done the following:

Fixed the jumping/dropping into the garage
Fixed the problem leaving the pits
Created a high speed version which misses out the chicanes

Just finessing the AIW racing line and track edge limits of that high speed version and shall release both as a V3.0 upload in the next few days. So will be deleting this track version soon.

All good Jeff. Feedback helps.

(FYI for anyone interested as this may apply to other tracks people have jumping issues with, to fix the jumping I imported a new object from the BTB venue to see how it lined up on the Z axis. It was out by +0.043. Which meant at some point in the 3Dsimed post production phase the model had lowered. I had encountered this problem before with my Chiltern Downs track.
I Raised the model by +0.043 but it still wasn't 100%. Had to regenerate an entire new AIW file for the pit boxes and garages, then raise the model by increments of +0.01 at a time, load the track each time and see how close it was, until it got close when I then began raising the model by +0.0001 increments until they aligned and the jumping stopped. Took about 20 attempts but got there eventually.)
