Very cool idea to organize fp's to improve the quality of the race, this way it can only get better!

Sadly I can't attend either one of the fp's, don't have a mic and my pc probably doesn't like this many fc1 cars. :(

Will join again next time, I'm interested to see how this approach turns out!

A small report on tyre degradation:

did a 40 min stint (24, 25 laps) on medium tyres with the Merc on the 24/7 server with 40 % tyre deg, the same % as in the Notes.

The tyres need half a lap to warm up and 2 laps to reach 100% grip. They stay stable and predictable for 15 laps afterwards and decline first to 99 and then 98% (naturally). After lap 17/18 they loose tangible grip and drop to 97, 96% in the last 7 to 6 laps.

This behavior seems reasonable, a small build up, stable grip for the majority of the race and some tyre management and grip loss to the end.

Be aware that these numbers can vary with setup, driving style & track.

I am going to opt out! reasons posted in FP2 post
Ooo! I ran in some laps last night and I love this car but right now I am quite hopeless at keeping it on the track, Yeah! you have to really take it easy in the first 2 laps. Hell it has some grip but boy! when it loses it ........
Anyway with the shot time I have had in the car and the slim chance I can make the either of the FP's I am going to have to stand down. I am sure some of you faster guys will be happy this slow coach will not be on the track.
I will put some time in these cars and try get a lot more stable, for me that is my goal so I when I do race I might still be slow but at least be clean and predictable for all.

For reference:

a higher coefficient means of course more lift or drag.

'Lift' can mean "lift" (i) like on an airplane airfoil, or downforce. In AC, a positive CL (coefficient of lift) means downforce, a negative "lift" (i).
Drag either exists or not and the CD (coefficient of drag) is therefore always positive.

is the drag force, which is by definition the force component in the direction of the flow velocity

is the mass density of the fluid

is the speed of the object relative to the fluid and

is the surface area.

= always positive
2d3fdc651d296cf7a5bde9d58fa58c47.png
= is squared, so always positive
7b80ebccd4420d9579e7d488396b7f5c.png
= always positive
1/2 = positive

to be negative (a push force behind the car) is not valid, therefore is CD always positive.

Do you prefer licensed hardware?

  • Yes for me it is vital

  • Yes, but only if it's a manufacturer I like
