All players that move to this Russian football club say the same thing. I am not coming to play here for the money
New Anzhi Makhachkala midfielder Lassana Diarra has challenged those who think he has moved to Russia for the money to watch him play before leaping to any judgement
Diarra, 27, joined big spending Anzhi from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window for a reported £4.4 million. He said he had not moved for the money, but to help Guus Hiddink's side to win the Russian championship.
"This is a new challenge for me," Diarra said. "I have only been in Russia a few days but I have already had time to train. I have been well received and I appreciate that. I thought I could help push Anzhi to become league champions. Why not?
