FIA announces 2010 F1 entry list

  • Kyle Evers

It's 20m over a number of years I think, not per year. Schumacher had a similar contract 25m over 3 or 4 yrs I seem to recall,

Well in USD, Kimi made $53 million last year. That is a LOT LOT LOT of money for a season of racing.

Ferrari Lose Their Case Against The FIA

Ferrari have lost their bid to gain an injunction against the FIA's plans to introduce its controversial budget cap next season.

The Scuderia indicated before the court case that they will withdraw from the 2010 Championship if the FIA refuses to back down on the £40 million budget cap or the 29 May deadline for entries to next year.

Look at the 1996 season (as a completely random year) as an example of the sport before it got ridiculously expensive and the manufacturers got involved:

Manufacturers:
Ferrari

Private Teams:
Benetton
Williams
Mclaren
Ligier
Jordan
Sauber
Footwork
Tyrell
Minardi
Forti

The full list of new teams could be:
Lola
USF1
Wirth Research
Epsilon Euskadi
RML
Formtech
Campos Racing
iSport
Litespeed
Prodrive

Just looked at my latest F1 Racing magazine (regarding world budget, not just F1):

Non-F1 related:

UK Soccer transfer record
1991 - David Platt (Aston Villa to Bari) - £5.5mil.
2008 - Robinho (Real Madrid to Man. City) - £32.5mil.

Wimbledon's total prize
1991 - £4mil.
2008 - £11.8mil.

A family car
1991 - £11,596
2008 - £15,872

A bottle of milk
1991 - 31p
2008 - 45p

F1-related:

Jordan - 6th place in the 1991 season - with $10mil. budget
Toro Rosso - 6th place in the 2008 season - with 130mil. budget

Looks like F1 relies much to the world :D

FOTA Teams submit F1 entries for 2010

More news :p

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8072295.stm

Ferrari and the rest of the teams in the Formula One Teams' Association (Fota) have submitted conditional entries for the 2010 championship.

Williams announced on Monday that they intend to enter next season's campaign.

McLaren, BMW Sauber, Toyota, Renault, Red Bull Racing, Toro Rosso and Brawn GP have now all followed suit.

The move would appear to bring an end to the recent row with the sport's governing body, the FIA, over the voluntary budget cap.

A statement on behalf of the Fota said: "Fota confirms all its members' long-term commitment to be involved in the FIA Formula One World Championship and has unanimously agreed further and significant actions to substantially reduce the costs of competing in the championship in the next three years."

  • Brabham F1

This conditional entry is strange.. surely Max will just turn around and say the regulations were in place prior to entry and therefore entrance is implicit acceptance of those regulations?

  • Kyle Evers

Aston Martin was going to enter too, right?

I don't understand why all of these teams would want to join NOW with the 2009 season the way it is.

Starting to sound like a more interesting season then 2009 already is. Djeez, the FIA made some really bad mistakes in the past but I like the way F1 is heading the last year.
Top job, big field and more cars is only good for the sport
