F1 2020 F1 2020 Livery Modding

F1 2020 The Game (Codemasters)
I've seen a number of YouTubers create their own liveries for their cars. I'd love to be able to make my own as well, and race with it. Does anyone know of/has made any guides on how to do this? I really want to add an extra level of personality to my car.

I've spent a few days now tinkering myself to get things right as the first time I've played at modding myself. Its been a steep learning curve for sure, especially when most of the guides I find glossing over the detail that is actually key. Given how much time I've sunk, I've loaded a few videos of idiots guides to modding that will include liveries and race gear as well for this years game.

I too watch a fair few of the more well known content creators and their custom liveries, and this spurred me to give it a go despite being anything more than amateur idiot. That said, I think my first attempt looks on point :)

Hello,

I have a doubt about create car liveries.

I have made my custom livery with photoshop (the "_d.tif.dds" file), I have included it in erp file and I can see it in the game, but the colors are lighter than I have painted. Why can this occurs? Caused for the "_m.tif.dds" or "_s.tif.dds" files? I does not understand well the purpose of this files and how to generate it.

Please I would appreciate an answer to solve this.

Thanks.

The M file determines the type of paint finish, so it can completely change what your design (or D file) shows. Depending on what finish you want depends on how your M file should look. Easiest way I've found is to copy and paste your design to a new page on your image processor (photoshop in my case) and change the colours from there. For example bright green is matte finish (ie colour will be dull but close to your design colour), pink is chrome (this turns white on the design to silver for example) and orange is standard gloss. The full paint he codes are floating about this forum in a few places I've seen.

Keep in mind that replacing files in the game (a modded livery over, say, the RaceNet Livery) may trigger the game's anti-tamper function. I ran into this problem when I first installed a Toyota livery, and the game stopped functioning altogether after a few races. You may have to delete the files you replaced, run Steam's file validation, then reinstall the liveries. Should this problem persist, I can't help you past that.
