Driver 61 head coach, Scott Mansell, takes some time out of his busy schedule to discuss the pros and cons of how to drive quickly in a real or virtual racing car, whilst sharing some fascinating insights into a long and varied driving career.

Some people are born with immense natural talent in the art of racing a car at breakneck speeds right on the very edge of their ultimate performance level. Drivers like Jim Clark, Ayrton Senna and Lewis Hamilton have all displayed that inner confidence and sheer outright skill from a very early age.

Other drivers take more time to develop into their full potential, gathering experience and learning how best to maximise themselves and the cars underneath them.

Sim racers come in all different ages and experiences, often with a premium on the amount of time they have available to indulge in their favourite hobby of virtual motorsport. Yeap a great resource, no affiliation but have been recommending him for some time.

When you have a sport where people can pay to do it, you get people like Driver61 who are ex pro drivers at the age of what? He's only in his 30's....
Just never had the budget. The world of motorsport is littered with these people.

and they want to simulate it,well simulation are going to **** because of it,it is going to be a pay to win, like f1 good simulation tho

No i did not.... I was talking about real racing.....

Scott Mansell is undoubtedly better than many many people who race, like the old gentleman drivers and kids of rich dads....but yet here he is in his 30s and 'retired'.....

there are so many lost drivers due to underfunding. i always ratted Phil Glue but again no budget. when he raced in formula BMW i was in the same team as him and he was having to clean his own car to cut costs and then would go out and stick it on the podium. but again no backing as he didnt have a fancy manager like all the top flight racers have too many to list but basically the F1 paddock atm.
