Crossfire vs sli

Had to revert to amd instead of intel because of cost, however the amd boards i can find @ scan only seem to support ati crossfire, which if im not mistaken makes my nvidia card useless, this is on the 790fx chip.

Do any of the am3 sockets supply amd with sli instead of ati crossfire?

i am not sure but if iam right AMD chip set = Crossfire only , Nvidia chipset = SLI only , and Intel chipset = CF/SLI

of course my bad...my current board is nividia chip running amd cpu.

according to scan, am3 sockets dont run a nvidia chipset its either intel or amd, which means i can only go amd for phenom if I go with ati and id rather not.

you could always get a intel cipset that would make you able to run a sli pack on a AMD cpu

there is a board with nforce chipset for the am3 MSI NF980-G65 not sure if its stil avadible mybe have a look around for it
anyother board i found use a amd chipset and not one board had a intel chipset

How is it for games? might just get the model numbers for all the parts and get shop to order them in, easier than shopping at 4+ online sites to get it all lol

I have all the parts located for what I need but the board was my problem, if I can save 100 ish on board and cpu by not going intel I will do.

thats my cpu Its at 3.7ghz at the moment but when I get a bigger case and a decent cooler I will try and get it up to 4ghz, I only really play rfactor and Race on and I have them maxed out, I have call of duty modern warfare2 as well and that is maxed out as well.

edit that, it doesnt support ddr3 only ddr2 ...... 4xddr2 slots not ddr3 =/
