Welcome to the RD Racing Club.

In round 5 of the @Fat-Alfie championship we're going to the latest released track of David, the Battenbergring. Loved by many and hated by some. It's a very tricky track with a lot of full throttle sections but only if you're precise on the racing line. And comfort lifting will cost you a lot of time. So this track is all about making calculated risks. The scenery is again beautiful and the section through the village is very challenging at speed.

Time to start making a new setup, my current one doesn't suit this track at all - it just can't take those fast left-right-left-right combinations with anything close to a decent speed.
Quite a laptime killer on this track, that.... :cautious:

Ok, I believe there's no way I'll shave off 7-8 seconds with this setup, so I'll probably just cruise around somewhere at the back. Of course I might get very lucky and manage to make a better setup, but fortunately it's no problem if I won't. I can afford to have this as an "off-race", because the last race at Fonteny should suit me better, and I'll finally have time to tinker with the setup before that Grande Finale.

Well done to everyone who survived that one. It was about 10 mins too long for me !

I looked at the replay, and to my surprise we didn't even hit until you bounced back from the fence - I thought we touched. You started to move inside towards me, and then you steer back outside but too much and hit the fence.
I was a bit lucky there, because my car understeered so much that I would have almost certainly hit you a bit later if you hadn't moved back to outer line. Although I might have reacted differently if you had stayed close by my side, but I still doubt if I could have prevented a collision.

Apologies for my part, I misjudged the situation a bit. I thought I'd overtake you easily, but then I noticed that you were still right beside me.

No problem. I'd been doing a bit of off roading a few corners before so wasn't up to speed.

Hard luck to Ernie who spun on the last corner and ended up in the pit and lost a lap!

Yeah, there is luck and bad luck. I saw Ernie crashing into the pits what i originally thought after the line. I was wrong, hard Luck Ernie. That last bend sends you into the pit area if you lose it.

A lot to say about this one..

First of qualifying during night time... :( I exited the game, turned off weather fx but everything was really overly gray and it some places worse where there was direct sunlight. But since qualifying had already started I figured I just press on and manage a lap at least. Lap one Jason was a few seconds in front of me and crashed in the village section and I couldn't avoid him and crashed hard into him resulting in a lot of front damage. The handling certainly was different but managed to qualify in P2 nonetheless. I exited the game again to switch my PP filter which was the Pure VR filter for another and that made the game look alright again.. But please, can we make sure this does not happen any more for those using weather fx ?

Race lap 1.. Allan chasing me through the fast twisty bit there, goes for an inside line, we touch sideways and it puts me into a wooden structure that just happened to be at that place.. big frontal collision, happy my car wasn't totaled but again a lot of front damage and completely at the back of the field. Just like at Thomson Road :( Since I managed to come back to P2 there I figured I could try, except with damage this time. I did a low 4'39 on full fuel before qualifying (without damage) but it was clear that this damage was costing me 2-3 seconds per lap.. I had some luck evading crashing cars in front of me albeit by going off track myself to do so. But I was making ground on the guys ahead.
Last laps was a fight for P2 with Richard. He defended hard, we came together on the last lap at some point and I gave the position back, but then going into the last corner there was a gap on the right, I went for it but Richard turned into my car sending him wide. I watched the replay and I wasn't understeering myself and even turning away from him when he hit me so it really wasn't my fault.

Happy with P2 considering I had to fight back from last place but I really wanted a fight with Jason.. it looked like he was flying here, so well done! I'm not sure what lap times I could have done without damage myself.

I had a good clean race only scraping a bit of paint against Richards Ford up until the last couple of laps when i tried to take a bend in 4th instead of 3rd for some reason. Bad move followed by hard post contact. Just cruised home after that with a big gap back to Ernie and a safe position at the end. Great fun guys

I also had night at first, just leaving the server and rejoining fixed it without any changes. I'm using latest Pure with the latest preview-CSP - maybe Ilja has once again introduced some new bugs.

I hadn't set any time transitions in the race so I think you are correct that it's an issue with Pure. Richard did say the time was set to midnight so I'll check if I got the start time wrong.

Enjoyable race, very difficult with a car that you are never sure were it is going to end up. A small initial mistake many meters before the corner can magnify into a big mistake.
All my off were self inflicted, shame really i am sure i could have finished much higher, even though I was all to aware that some had better pace.
A race were there was no one to blame but myself.:(
So a big well done to all that finished this race.:)
