Slightly Mad Studios have revealed the first images of the McLaren F1 GTR and America's very own Grand Prix track Circuit of the Americas, both coming to Project CARS 2.

We already had a good idea that the iconic McLaren F1 GTR was going to be included in Slightly Mad Studios new Project CARS title, however officially at least today's image reveal is the first still footage of the machine players have been treated to since the game was confirmed back in 2015. Perhaps of more interest to us simmers, and coming as an unconfirmed addition up to this point is another track, a first look at the American Formula One Grand Prix venue in Texas - the fairly new Circuit of the Americas (COTA).

Competed in 2012 the circuit has been built to FIA Grade 1 standards and runs to a total of 3.427-mile (5.515 km). Offering a challenging mix of high speed corners and slower more technical sections, the Herman Tilke designed track has met with near universal approval from fans and drivers alike since hosting it's first Formula One Grand Prix back in 2012.

With the circuit being the first US venue designed by Tilke to current Formula One standards, and with the usually warm and dry climate of the Austin, Texas area in which it has been built, COTA has gone on to host a number of high level international championship races in it's six years of active operation. As well as becoming the new home of Formula One in the USA, the track has also hosted rounds of the FIA World Endurance Championship, Australian V8 SuperCars, MotoGP and a round of the Rolex Sports Car Series.

We know Project CARS 2 will be shipping with over 170 cars at initial launch and already we have an idea about some of the cars expected to feature within the game. If you want to keep an eye out on what's been confirmed or leaked so far, check out the Project CARS 2: The Cars Revealed So Far thread (regularly updated) to stay abreast with the latest reveals.

Project CARS 2 will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC towards the end of 2017.

Couldn't care less. Horrible track, or rather parking lot. Second worst track after Paul Ricard, that's at least my opinion  Just invites dirty driving and cheating

Same ones like in Project Cars 1. Laguna Seca (hopefully laserscanned), Road America and Watkins Glen are awesome tracks :)

I don't think the track "Invites" dirty driving. The drivers decide to just drive dirty or not. Anyway, I'd like to see VIR and Mosport. To me, the overly basic handling of the cars in PCars is what kind of ruins it for me. Too simcade IMO. I love the game overall, just hoping PCars2 really shines in the handling department. And yes, I'll be waiting a bit after release before buying it.

Really fun track to drive, specially the esses after the main straight. And the PC2 incarnation, even on its WIP state it's already really, really good :)

Regards

Ps. Don't you like Paul Ricard? I love it!! (the layouts with chicanes on the long straight)
It's not going to be easy at all to cheat driving in PC2, BTW :)
I was rather talking about real life, watching races, then Sims. I have never driven COTA myself, but watching races there, or Paul Ricard for that matter, you see cars all the time cutting "corners" (white lines on the lot :roflmao: ), running out wide with no timeloss and penalty, and stuff like that. Driver errors don't get punished. I hugely prefer old school tracks, that have grass and gravel as runout, leads to better racing. In addition it just looks way better when racing cars race on a proper street like Bathurst or Spa, then just keep themselves between two white lines painted onto a huge parking lot/concrete field.

This has nothing to do with the actual layouts of the tracks, could well be possible that i like them when i race them myself.
Hope i clarified my opinion :)

There is nothing "American" about COTA. It's not even in America (I love all the western promos, lol) since it's in Austin. Last I checked that was part of Europe. It was build by force of threat and can't even survive a rain soaked race for one year the margins are so thin due to FIA's anti-egalitarianism. It's one of the worst tracks in America, despite being the most expensive (except for Indy). Uncle Sam apparently threw up in in the first sector. Stop, go, turn to slow you enough, stop, corner, chicane, repeat, rinse, zzzzzz. And it's a complete rip off of original designs, even if made by the destroyer of those other unique tracks. I could name 50 U.S. tracks that would be better, but no. What's good enough for IndyCar is too dangerous for F1. Watkins Glen anyone?

If SMS does not include ovals in pCARS2, like they promised in writing for pCARS1, they can kiss the American market goodbye and someone will claim it (console). IndyCar is getting very very popular right now. If SMS decide to wake up, then approx 50 million new SIM fans will give them a look. But judging by their brilliant CEO, who belittles and bans his own customers, I doubt they have the ability to get wise. Hope I'm wrong.

Note: this is in no way critical of what they did for the console. It was revolutionary and I think the most immersive game out there. And they worked their ass off to make it right. That's more than I can say for other developers. In the end, they may do me the biggest favor of all and force me to iRacing.

Lucky for us you are wrong. :)
The indy series is interesting also for the rest of the world, the cars and the tracks are great. Daytona and Indianapolis have terrific road courses.

Glad you love the IndyCar series. Growth will expand internationally here soon. And you are an oval fan too I guess since Indy is 1/3 ovals.

So I'm "wrong" about SMS getting wise? This is great news! I guess you have confirmed there will be ovals? I have not seen this anywhere. Please tell me where I can find it.

ftfy, since it may be slightly warped to conclude that NOT wanting to revolt against or secede from the USA is anti-american..

Let's not get political here. I was stating a fact in a satirical manner, not an argument one way or another. Since you obviously spend a lot of time in the U.S. or live here, let's get together and chat about it.

COTA, Road America, Daytona, Long Beach, Laguna Seca, Watkins Glen. We are inching closer to having all the tracks for IMSA. Please SMS give us Sebring, Belle Isle, Mosport, Lime Rock, VIR, and Road Atlanta (but above all Mosport please)
