Earlier in the week RaceDepartment caught up with double AM Cup champion and Barwell Motorsport race driver Leo Machitski, shooting the breeze about how virtual motorsport compares to the real thing.

For those of you not familiar with the name, Leo Machitski is an AM classification driver for the highly regarded Barwell Motorsport team - plying his trade in the SRO GT World Challenge championship aboard the Lamborghini Hurucan GT3. Having spent the vast majority of his driving career with the Barwell squad, Machitski knows a thing or two about what it takes to pedal a high downforce endurance racer around the circuits of the world.

Enjoying incredible success in recent years, Machitski and team mates Adrian Amstutz and Miguel Ramos have taken the AM drivers championship for the last two seasons in the GT World Challenge Europe championship (formally Blancpain GT Series) - with the trio again odds-on favourites to defend their trophy in the coming season.

As well as enjoying his time on the tracks of the real world, Machitski also spends a fair amount of time driving in racing simulators - and thanks to our partnership with the RaceDepartment Barwell Motorsport esport team in this seasons SRO E-Sport GT Series AM Championship, we caught up with Leo to discuss how the world of real and virtual compare - with some very interesting insights from someone who has considerable experience in both disciplines.
