It's a pity that one in particular racecar didn't happen as the 8C is such a beautiful front engine sportscar.

Audi's LMDh project may or may not end up on here in the near future.

Speaking of Audi, they initially intended to replace the R8 LMP with the R9 LMP with a mock-up monocoque produced in 2003 and the intention of the prototype running the 3.6-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

This project eventually evolved into the R10 TDi.
