After two Grand Prix's in the car park of the famous Caesars Palace casino during the early 1980's, it seems Bernie Ecclestone is now ready to bring F1 back to Nevada as talks have opened between the two parties around hosting a Grand Prix in the near future.
Bernie is said to be very keen on a return to Vegas for F1 and had outlined some of the details surrounding the track layout to The Independent "Vegas say they are ready to go and it would be on The Strip for sure, In the end there's a million countries that would like to have an F1 race but they can't afford it." This is especially true after the numerous failed attempts for a recent New Jersey GP, which now appears to be dead in the water.
Las Vegas as a Grand Prix venue is drawing some support however with F1 sponsorship agent Zak Brown stating "Vegas would be a fantastic addition to the F1 calendar and would be successful for so many people involved, It's a great fit for the F1 brand and would draw a lot of interest from sponsors in one of the most important strategic markets for F1 - America. Vegas as a city would benefit greatly from F1's fan base who no doubt would spend a lot of money that weekend."
Also it seems plans are more advanced than simple opening talks as The Independent have also revealed that renowned F1 circuit designer Hermann Tilke has visited Vegas several times to outline a track layout along the main Las Vegas strip. For hardcore F1 fans this may seem unlikely right now but stranger things have happened in F1 recently, what are your thoughts on a potential Las Vegas Grand Prix?
