I was thinking about a change in the race inscription threads and presentation of next races. It should take a bit of implementation but not an awful lot.
New type of thread (so there would be normal threads, poll threads, and race threads). In these, you get button to 'join event' (similar to the 'like' button). Clicking this automatically adds you to the list of participants. And of course, the button transforms into 'drop from event' , which erases* you from the list and shifts people under you up.
*It would be wise to erase from the list but keep the name in a separate retirees list, to deter abuse in joining/dropping
I think with this the list of participants could be kept up to date without staff having to scan the thread (and avoiding some misunderstandings).
Added benefit:
- automatic stats on events can be put in the calendar. Such as RF2 Endurance @ Portugal (10 registered/15 free)
- each user could get under the GMT clock a box with a list of events (or just nearest event) he is registered in. Possibly even with a countdown (formula1.com style)
Your events:
RF2 Endurance @ Portugal
(10 registered/15 free)
