Audio from my AV receiver?

I'm using my cockpit with VR exclusively. As regard the audio, I connect my Sennheiser headphones to my Pimax headset. Now I'm considering installing an audio cable from my AV receiver to my cockpit and connect my headphones to it instead. Do you think it's a good idea? Will I have better audio quality? I use the AV receiver as amplifier for the sound in my computer (the same I use with my cockpit) with a 5.1 setup. The audio comes directly from the graphic card via HDMI. One benefit I can think of is that it will be easier and faster to grab my headphones with no need to connect them to my headset. Also, I will not have to worry if I upgrade in the future to a headset without jack port.
