Kunos Simulazioni and 505 Games release introductory video presenting the new Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2 introduced recently as free content for Assetto Corsa on PC.

Coming packaged with the recent build 1.12 and free Highlands fictional race circuit in Scotland, the Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2 from the 80's Group B rally era has probably played a prominent role in every over 35 petrol head's childhood dreams for many years, and now it has been added to Assetto Corsa as free content by Kunos Simulazioni.

With the game not traditionally having a focus towards rally content the release of the Quattro was something of a risk for Kunos, perhaps reflected in the fact the vehicle has been added to the game at no cost as part of the version 1.12 build update. With ridiculous power and four wheel drive, the Quattro is renowned as a handful to control and as mentioned earlier was a premium vehicle back in the Group B rally heyday.

Now to commemorate the recent release, Kunos have released an enjoyable short introduction video and small write up on the car for fans to enjoy.

You can catch the video and release text from Kunos below:

"Introduced back in 1984, the Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2 revolutionized rallying. Just like the other manufacturers, Audi used the lenient homologation requirements to create a new rally car. All the car maker needed for homologation was a production run of a mere 200 cars.

Blomqvist's spectacular, sideways driving style suited the Sport quattro perfectly. By flicking the tail out, the Swede overcame the natural understeer of the nose-heavy Audi. He won five of the twelve rounds and was crowned the 1984 World Champion. Mikkola and Roehrl also won a round, which was enough to clinch the constructor's trophy".

Assetto Corsa is a racing simulation now available to purchase for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC (via the Steam network).

This is in fact incorrect information, Blomqvist won the World Championship for the main part behind the wheel of the LWB A2 evolution Quattro . not the S1 Quattro .

Blomqvist did not really like the S1 version of the Quattro finding its handling tricky at best , on-top of that the Bash plate fixed under the front of the car gave tended to create lift when the car jumped it was also plagued with several technical failures.
Blomqvist stuck with the trusty A2 Evo . only driving the Sport S1 when. Audi gave him no options but drive the car.

Do not forget that the S1 did win Pikes Peak in none E2 version with Michèle Mouton at the wheel,in 1984.
Also the Sport S1 E2 only came into rallying though 1985 & not in 1984 , its WRC debute was the 1000 lakes at the backend of 1985 .

Then came the master class in rally driving from Walter Röhrl , who simply trashed the otherwise unbeaterble 205 T16 . the pace been so high that the 205 T16 tore the treads off their tries trying to keep up with the flying Quattro S1 E2 of Röhrl.
thus taking the only win the Quattro S1 E2 ever had in the WRC,

1986 promised a battle royal with the next generation of Group B cars that all came to nothing with Audi pulling the Quattro S1 E2 from the WRC & Rallying after Portugal & the deaths of several spectators

The only other win in a major event was at Pikes Peak , with an even more wild version of the S1 E2 again Röhrl at the wheel.
Though the fact are a little incorrect , it is true that Blomqvist found the LWB A2 esayer to get to grips with than other drivers coming to the Quattro.

before Blomqvist had driven for Saab a front engine FWB car, Blomqvist used the same driving style with the Quattro Left foot braking to steer the front heavy car.
Even Röhrl took lessons from Blomqvist after struggling to get use to the Quattro in the run up to winning the 1984 Monti.
a small mistake but never mind.
