Kunos Simulazioni have released the new Tripl3 DLC package and the latest update for the PC version of Assetto Corsa, bringing the sim to version 1.8 and adding a free car and historic circuit to the game.

Update wise, version 1.8 includes many fixes and optimisations for Assetto Corsa, most noticeable of which is the work that has gone on under the hood of the software to increase performance of the title while at the same time adding significant improvements to the reflections and shadows in game. Version 10 tyres have also been added to the LaFerrari, McLaren P1, Pagani Huayra, BMW M3 GT2, Ferrari 458 GT2, Corvette C7R, Ferrari 599XX, Ferrari FXXK and Pagani Zonda R. Initially it was hoped the GT3 class would receive Version 10 tyres to compliment the Red Pack DLC cars already running the new technology, however it appears the change in the new tyre model for GT3's hasn’t quite made it into this update.

Players should also find the Artificial Intelligence in game now respond better to contact between each other and the player, as Kunos have worked on the collision logic between AI and player, resulting in "slower reaction after an impact, for more realistic collisions".

Other highlights of todays update include:

Free Content
Assetto Corsa version 1.8 comes with a couple of pieces on new content in the shape of the sports variant to the Audi A1, the Audi S1. Lighter, faster and meaner than its tamer brother, the S1 is the latest little pocket rocket from the German manufacturer. Alongside the S1, Kunos have also released Monza's 1960 10km Sopraelevata circuit, laserscanned to be the most accurate representation of the legendary Italian circuit ever found in a racing simulation, and the first time ever for this track on gaming consoles. Sopraelevata comes in two configurations, Monza 1966 Full Course (Sopraelevata) and Monza 1966 Junior Course. Both the S1 and Sopraelevata come free as part of the version 1.8 update for Assetto Corsa.

Tripl3 DLC
Containing three brand new cars for Assetto Corsa is the new Tripl3 DLC from Kunos. Priced at a reasonable $2.99, the new DLC brings two new cars from the legendary Prancing Horse and a rank outside in the shape of the little know Praga R1. Although always nice to have more Ferrari's, the Praga R1 could well be one of the more interesting items within the Tripl3 DLC. Designed as a "Lightweight, Extreme downforce, Full-carbon, High safety, Low running cost" sports car by Czech car manufacturer Praga Racing, the R1 kicks out 210bhp from a Renault Sport Formula 2010 2.0 engine. At only 592kg, the Praga R1 is a full-carbon track car designed around a composite monocoque and loosely based on WEC LMP1 prototype style vehicle. This should make for a very interesting addition to the sim, and is personally one I am very much looking forward to trying out on track.

The Tripl3 DLC is available to purchase now via Steam for $2.99 and contains:
  • Praga R1
  • Ferrari FXXK
  • Ferrari 488 GTB

Have had 2 PC crashes on my backup PC since update - never had a PC crash with AC before this.

Restored old AC folder and no crash, reinstalled updated AC and a crash on the second race.

i seemed too have fixed it turned down world detail too high instead of full , just tried a full field of ktm at magione and am getting 173fps ,so big jump in fps for me ,now too try new cars ,good look with it sir

I expected the FXX K to handle better, understeers like crazy
I have not changed any settings, but gave the three cars a quick spin last night:
The FXX K is very fast and has less understeer than the 588 imo.
The Praga is really fun to drive, but I expected (have to check the specs) a bit more speed.

The free Audi S1 on the other hand is faster than I expected.
Mixed feelings about the Monza layout. I don't really like the bankings. Probably because I don't like ovals either...

I must admin I'm disappointed with no career changes for console release. Last time I played it, I did races in order. After one race with specific car on specific track (was one of BMW but not sure about track, Mugello maybe?) the same car waited for me on the same track just 2 or 3 races after (I think only top AI car was different and that was it). Game has a nice diversity by now and I don't think this kind of career can put up with it's competitors on consoles which always had a big focus on well made career. I know, I know, the game is focused on simulation and not 900 cars on 50 tracks, but still, as with now decent AI, I don't think that just having a better arranged career is that hard to be made.

Sounds weird. We all have had improvement to performance thanks to the sim now utilizing much more of the hardware. Its not a small optimization that is done. Try reinstalling completely fresh alt. delete the AC folder in documents&settings plus verify game cache in steam. Would be weird if you lost FPS. For me it was raised a lot.

To all: Reinstall your game completely even by deleting the Assetto Corsa folder in Documents & Settings if you see no FPS improvement at all. Kunos didnt do a small optimization bandaid they changed how AC make use of the hardware (to get more juice out of them). I could for the first time in years turn on adaptive vsync and i tested with full AI grid which never was 60FPS for me before. Now its completely smooth.

New cars are great. Love the Praga and 488GTB. And to people being somehow let down by 3 quality cars for 3 bucks... Lol. :D There are A LOT of cars coming. No need to be sad guys.

@Prithvi R Shankar Tire model 10 should be closer to where Kunos want them. i.e. closer to the real deal (better and more realistic).
Tried a total reinstall and the frame rate jumped by one. The move to 64 bit a while back gave me an increase against AI as I'm running an i-7 but my gfx card, and maybe driver, just can't pump out any more frames of loveliness. As Clarkey might say, where have the horses gone?

Maybe I'll have a new PC by the time AC 2 rolls around but for now I'm exiling myself to the ps4 version where I can weep a little every time I think to pop open an in-car app or try and change the seat height etc, and remember I can't 'cause consoles are for stoopid subhumans not deserving of Kunos love (at least not yet anyway).

Doesn't really surprise me some people see no difference in framerate, optimizations can only help if they improve the thing that happens to be worst on your system. Just like there's 100 different benchmarks, there are 100 different things that can cap your framerate.

To get my triple screens rendered is a lot of pixels, I'm pretty sure that dominates the load on my GPU and thus framerate. Don't know exactly what got improved but apparently this wasn't it, so I'm capped around the same amount. Maybe there are fewer situations that'll cause a framerate drop, hard to judge that. Lower CPU usage is a good thing for sure, means I can run more AI. But I didn't used to try for the most AI possible so I don't know what my old/new limits are.

You finally did it Kunos. A DLC that doesn't interest me at all. First one I definitely won't even look at.

Is it really worth blowing up threads with such posts every time a DLC gets released? I mean would you go to a bakery just to tell them "Hey, you finally baked one sort of a bread I definitely won't buy from you!"

I'm here to read helpful opinions from those, who tried the DLC already, to help me making my decision and get some appetizer until I get my hands on it...

go to options / video and adjust screen resolution . AC happens to change your screen setting after a update , happened to me already 4 times but not after this update and also not the one before but my friend had it the one before , so check that .
