Kunos Simulazioni have officially confirmed the Mazda 787B and Miata N/A will be added for free as part of the next update, plus confirmed that private lobbies for console are just around the corner!
After a recent tease from Marco Massarutto showing off some images from two new cars coming to Assetto Corsa, it has now been officially confirmed by the studio that PC players will be getting access to these two lovely Mazda's as part of the next major update to the simulation, thought to be deployed during the next month.
As well as the new images posted by Kunos, the Italian developers have also released a brief description of both cars, although to most racing fans I doubt the garishly liveried 787B needs much introduction...
Mazda 787B
Back in 1991, Mazda became the first Japanese manufacturer to win the 24 hours of Le Mans, with the Mazda 787B. This Group C sports prototype weighed in at just 845kg and was capable of reaching top speeds of over 340 km/h, as well as producing 690bhp at 8000rpm, thanks to its Wankel rotary engine.
Mazda MX-5 N/A
Introducing the Mazda MX-5 first generation, the car which revived the classic roadster in the 90’s. Produced with a 1.6 Litre and a 1.8 Litre engine, with the latter capable of 128bhp. The modest power was more than enough to push the lightweight body to over 200 km/h.
In other news that will surely come as a relief to long suffering console players of Assetto Corsa, the developers have confirmed the long awaited introduction of multiplayer console lobbies is nearing a public release, with approval submissions to Microsoft and Sony respectively due to be sent very soon for an intended release come April. Speaking via the official Twitter account for Assetto Corsa, Kunos confirmed:
"For those asking about private lobbies on console, we're going into submission at the end of the month. Expect to get the feature in April!"
This is great news for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 gamers and should make a considerable improvement to the online capability of the sim. At present the only options for players wishing to drive against real people on console in Assetto Corsa is to take part in pre set servers run by Kunos themselves, often overlooking a wide range of both vanilla content and additional DLC packages bought by players post release of the main game. With online lobbies, players will then be able to set up their own servers and chose their own track and car combinations, much like their PC playing counterparts.
Assetto Corsa is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.
