AIW file editing problem

I may be slow, but I am also quite useless.

Current project.

Feel free to criticize, but don't expect me to make quick progress. It has taken 6 months to get this far.

Loading and viewing an AIW is working
Zooming in and out and moving around with the mouse is working
Clicking on a waypoint and displaying the data also working

Changing the position of waypoints and the values is next on the list.

Overlaying a graphic of the track is still a pipedream but I am trying to work it out.

I second that wholehearthedly. Best of luck on this. Alive and continously developed AIW Editor is what GTR2 needs for sure.

Friendly advice: make sure you utilize ChatGPT/Copilot/Github Copilot - those may save you a lot of time while learning new technologies or taking care of tedious tasks you might be tired of ;)

Hi,

I wanted to inform you that similar utility already exists and its called Jimola. Although finding it on the internet and making it work is hard. It is pretty advanced and has all the things one might need in order to modify AI waypoints. If you want, I can upload the utility here on Overtake with all the necessary files. Too bad you didn't tell us what you are working on sooner, as it would save you months of work.
I used it to develop new racing lines for AI in my physics mod.

Yeah, I totally hate when working on something for the game and then realizing someone else has already done the same project better than myself.

I would recommend RF_AIW_CAM_EDIT over Jimola as the former can automatically create smooth curves which is crucial in order to get optimal AI racing lines.

Yes please, upload that.

I am working on this because many people find editing AIW files impossible. My goal is to create something that is much easier to understand so that regular people can fix or change AI behavior. I have no idea if I can even achieve this but it is a fun way to learn Python.
I have also been attempting to create a solution that can automatically organize and fix the Talent files, which frequently become messed up for people after they've installed many mods.

It's not that bad once you've learnt how it works but I agree it would had been nice with some more instructions for the basics. However, the important smooth curves feature I mentioned above is very well described in its own pdf file that is included with the download.
