A BTCC Game In The Works?

According to reports on touringcartimes, it looks like a game based on the British Touring Car Championship is in development - with 2021 slated as a provisional release window.

Earlier today, touringcartimes reported that three-time British Touring Car Champion Matt Neal may have let the cat out of the bag with regards to a potential BTCC game currently in development, having confirmed that a title is in the works and expected to release in beta state towards the end of the current year.

Speaking as part of the Team Dynamics Facebook Live event, Neal had the following to say when asked by a fan if a BTCC game was possible in the future:
“There’s one in the making, we are reliably informed. The beta version might come out at the end of this year, and then I think it’s targeted for the end of 2021. It won’t be one where all, umm, you know added on to someone else’s game. This is going to be one where it’s a dedicated BTCC game like the old TOCA package. So that’s pretty exciting actually.”

At this point, nothing is known about the title, either developer, style of play or even the type of content it will contain. With the British Touring Car Championship continuing to explode in popularity in recent years, and touring cars making perfect content for sim racing, it will be exceptionally interesting to see how this develops in the foreseeable future.

It's been a long time coming since 1997's original TOCA series, lets hope the wait has been worth it.

honestly not a big fan of stand alone games for small series like this one
you are always stuck on a very small list of tracks

Small series? Its by no means small. Has biggest support package of pretty much any european series. Consistent grids of 30+ cars from over 10 different manufacturers. 8 tracks a few of which havent been properly included in a game since TOCA 2.

Hopefully gets the attention it deserves from a descent game producer.....hopefully not codemasters (slightly mad) or one of these back street developers that create half arsed games.
