2009 Grand Prix motorcycle racing

lol i think over in Japan someone at Kawasaki will bit his own ass, Melandri threads that pseudo kawa realy well :D
Indeed. I still can't believe they breached there contracts in the way they did. I am really pleased to see Melandri doing so well, it would have been a shame to have lost him from the series.

Melandri is now tied with Dovi in 5th place, just 23 points down on the championship leader, Jorge Lorenzo.

Great race, even if it was a little strung out. Fantastic to see Melandri back on the podium, as already mentioned Kawasaki must be wondering why they left MotoGP!

High drama not only with the rain soaked track drying out but with Rossi crashing on his first lap with slicks on and then copping the ride through penalty for pit-lane speeding.

Roll on Mugello

A pity Rossi won't be able to get his 100th win at home, one of the few times Vale will have missed a milestone he is after!

Another race where the usual suspects (Rossi, Lorenzo, Stoner and Pedrosa) will be at the pointy end.

Look for Loris on his Suzuki to qualify near the top 5 also.

Free practice has been run, with Lorenzo fastest, Rossi and Stoner not far behind.

Pedrosa hit 349.3km/h (217.1mph) during the session, which now stands as the fastest recorded top speed for a GP bike.

The Brits are doing well in the lower classes, which bodes well for the future.

MotoGP qualifying was very interesting, great to see Loris in the top 3. With any luck this will be a great race.

Sadly, I've read that Pedrosa hurt himself quite badly. A quote from the press release:

The Spaniard survived a big slide exiting the Scarperia chicane but the whiplash effect gave him an agonising right hip injury, pulling the gluteus medius muscle and causing a suspected crack at the top of the femur. Despite this injury, the brave former 125 and 250 World Champion intends to race here.

Ouch indeed.

Another wet track drying out very quickly made for a great spectacle. Excellent rides throughout the race, highlights for me were Loris up the front and Melandri taking the lead for a brief but fantastic period.

Ducati and Stoner finally win in Italy with Lorenzo in second and Rossi third.

Only sour point was seeing Dani Pedrosa crash out. Apparently dejected with HRC (and who could blame him), the last thing Dani needed was a big off to add to his injury tally. Hope he recovers quickly and Honda start listening to their number one rider.
