2009 British Touring Car Championship

What an afwul move of Matt Neal...... just no common sense in that action...

No wonder why you guys "love" him so much....

But you will always keep some nasty/dirty moves like that in TCC's. Look at the WTCC, its just the same overthere...
Its not according to the rules and should be punished, but it does happen once in a while..

well golly golly miss molly....

even plato himself said that matt neal used the size and strength of the integra to force his way past people.

Im surprised myself neal hasnt been punished or demoted with all the blatent dangerous and unsporting moves he has made, hes a pratt +1.

But having a vxr avatar, i doubt you will agree because its always other peoples fault than your favorite driver/"Racing hero"

They were both on ITV yesterday, Proctor in a body brace, and he confirmed that he's quit racing, as "another one like that and it could end up being serious". As there was a "better" angle than the YouTube (if any angle of that crash could be construed as "good"), and you can see the two people Proctor was closing on just peel either side of the stationary Ginetta. You can almost hear the "What the-? SHIIIIIIIIIIIIT!"

The other feller's leg was black and blue from knee to toe, and he ended up binning another Ginetta in his race through the fastest chicane - he admitted during the same interview that he was struggling with acceleration and braking because of his leg.

Good job you never have to accelerate or brake when you're racing then.

Carl Breeze actually had another big accident yesterday, clipped the tyres on the way into the esses and ended up at high speed jumping into a farmers field behind the circuit

you guys obviously havent ever seen BTCC past 2002 then, because thats what most drivers do, watch Plato in 2001, he used to smack Yvan Muller around and he was his team mate. Also from 1997 to 2000 Jason Plato used to just spin people out to get past them. Anthony Ried, Jason Plato, Rob Collard and Matt Neal are old school drivers and when they started all this pushing and shoving was allowed and thats why they drive like that because they know they wont get too badly told off for it.

c'mon guys lets talk about the racing rather than which driver most races like a prat.

i'm suprised you're thinking it boring just now Rob. I must admit, i'd love to see VXR 1-2-3 every round, but think this year is as good as any other over the past few years.

Lovin' seeing the chevvys. Plato and Jackson definitely adapting well to a new car thats been provided for them.

wsr are giving turkington the car to win a championship.

vxr going for a last hurrah!

airwaves getting in the mix...

new faces in Adam and Nash looking like could be names for the future.

O'Neil getting in the mix, just need a bit of luck...

happy seeing onslow-cole back on the grid.

JT back and wringing every last ounce of hp out of that civic. I could go on...

imo best thing is no TDI! Although a shame SEAT pulled out of the championship.

Plato punished for Neal clash

As predicted, Jason Plato has had his competition licence endorsed as a result of his clash with rival Matt Neal in round fifteen of the BTCC at Croft. After tangling at the hairpin the pair came together again a few hundred metres later at Clervaux, as Plato made contact with the rear of Neal’s Vectra, sending him spinning into the infield and down to tenth position.

Neal recovered to finish eighth, while Plato recorded a fifth place finish in his Racing Silverline Lacetti, but the 2001 BTCC champion has been reprimanded for the move, receiving two penalty points on his licence and an official reprimand for driving in a manner incompatible with general safety.

Post-race, Plato told the official series website, BTCC.net, that he had aquaplaned, saying, “My car was out of control as I tried braking. Then as we turned the corner there was a huge puddle and I had to hit the power to get out of it and there was a bit more contact. It wasn’t deliberate and I did try explaining to him afterwards. If it hadn't been Matt then it would have been someone else.”

Unsurprisingly, Neal saw matters somewhat differently, saying:

“I wasn’t happy to be punted off by Jason and it’s not the first time as it happened at Donington; it’s just disappointing for the boys who work so hard when we don’t get the results we deserve.”

And please stay on topic and behave like grown ups please..:stop:

doesnt matter if it is hot because the BMW's havent got as good straight line speed as the Chevrolet's or Vauxhall's and that normally plays a big part on that long straight

i used to enjoy watching matt neal when he was an independant in his primera,he was a pretty decent racer then, but since he's gone on to be a factory driver he's kind of let it go to his head.

i'm enjoying this years BTCC thus far, there's some great drivers coming through, and it's fantastic to see thomo back where he belongs.

An interesting snippet from Autosport this week is that WSR are now producing their own dampers for their cars (they have been in development for about a year), which is the first time they have done so since the Super Touring era, and they are saying this is probably a large part of the reason for their speed at the moment compared to Motorbase.

They said earlier in the year that they were frustrated as they knew they could make the car faster but couldn't do certain bits due to the FIA homoligation. I really wish they would have announced a Brands Hatch WTCC outing as it would have been really interesting to see how they fared against the WTCC BMW cars compared to 2007, considering the form they have hit recently
