2 different track mods but folders with the same name : How to do ?

Hi guys !

Sorry if it has already been discussed but i could'nt find no response so here is my pb:

i've downloaded 2 Falkenberg zips (2007+2010)
both folders got the same name (tracks aint da same)
Windows doesn't combine the files.it's either one or the other.
I want'em both.
How could i do ?

Thanks !

Give each folder a different name, such as Falk07 and Falk10.

Open the .trk file for each and edit the path line to point to the new name (SearchPath=GAMEDATA\Locations\Falk07 etc.). (This is where the game looks for the track files.)

In each gdb file change the lines -
SettingsFolder = xxx
SettingsCopy = xxx.svm
SettingsAI = xxx.svm

to correspond to the new folder names, so for Falk07 -
SettingsFolder = Falk07
SettingsCopy = Falk07.svm
SettingsAI = Falk07.svm
(This is where your setups are stored, and where the AI will look for setups if they're set to use yours.)

Also in the gdb files make sure the following lines are different for each track (they probably are already, but it doesn't hurt to check)-
TrackName =
EventName =
GrandPrixName =
VenueName =
(This is the menu display names.)

Thank u jgf,

What i did:
Falkenberg07 + Falkenberg10 Folders,
the trk and gdb thangz:
SettingsFolder = Falkenberg07 ...etc...checked names.
But only the 07 track appears in the game.

I hope it has nothing 2 do wit'shared folder.
i must go 2 sleep so will try again later !

btw:
- which name must appear when u scroll down 2 select a track:VenueName (i guess) ?
i ask 'cause sometimes u don't find the track because u think u'll see the name of the folder generally.
it's exhausting when u have hundreds of tracks u kno what i mean.

-i don't kno if it's important but what do u mean when u say " the AI will look for setups if they're set to use yours"
i mean i just set the AI in da game on the hardest level + psycho or else.

Lol, I have three installs of GTR2 (counting one for P&G) sharing a common locations folder with over four hundred tracks ...after removing several dozen a couple of years ago.

what do u mean when u say " the AI will look for setups if they're set to use yours"
The AI normally use "default" setups derived from the cars' physics files, but can be set to use your setups for any car at any track; makes a difference when racing.

As example, we'll give the AI your 2003 Brno setup for a Ferrari 360.

-First, open your UserData\"player name"\xxx.plr file and find the lines-
Vehicle Specific AI Setups="0" // If 1, search specific vehicle directory for "<track>.<qual/race>.svm" or "<track>.svm" or "ai.svm" before falling back on game.gdb defaults
Default Player Setup="0"

Change both instances of ="0" to ="1"

-Now go to your UserData\"player name"\settings\Brno folder and find your setup for the Ferrari 360, copy that to the "Ferrari 360 Teams" root folder (where the eng, hdc, etc. files are).

-Next open the 3Brno.gdb file and note the "SettingsAI = Brno.svm", rename the setup you copied to the car folder to Brno.svm .

Now whenever the AI run the Ferrari 360 at Brno they will use that setup. You can even give them different qual and race setups by naming Brno.qual.svm and Brno.race.svm (I just give them my race setup, that's time consuming enough with hundreds of cars and hundreds of tracks ....and, no, I haven't done all of mine, lol). And the plr edit only tells the AI to use those setups if they find one, otherwise they still use the default.

As for only one track appearing, temporarily remove that track folder from locations and see if the other track then appears. If it does, you have the same name appearing for both tracks somewhere, the game reads the first and ignores any others as duplicates; I always forget which name goes where in the displays and end up making notes from the game screens.

This is the official description, not very informative -
TrackName = Nordschleife Tourist // Name of Track
EventName = Tourist drives summer
GrandPrixName = Tourist drives summer //this must be the same as event name in order to sort circuit info correctly.
VenueName = Nordschleife_Tourist

If only one track is being selected by the game regardless of which one you pick in the track list, you also need to rename the files in each folder. ie

07Falkenberg.trk
07Falkenberg.gdb (this must also be in the heading in the GDB)
07Falkenberg.aiw
07Falkenberg.cam
etc
10Falkenberg.trk
10Falkenberg.gdb (this must also be in the heading in the GDB)
10Falkenberg.aiw
10Falkenberg.cam
etc

Ok guys,

jgf:
1. i understood the AI thang.Both instances = 1 but having no setups actually i may try it one day.
2. Forgot 2 say dat the only 2007 track selected was loading...the 2010 track(stcc) Yeah !
3. Noticed dat dis 2010 track was the only one to have a Hat file.idk if it could help ?!

Sunalp2:
I thought about what u said'before 'cause it totally meks sense 2 me too.
But the problem that happened : none of 'em appeared any more !!!
(Renamed aiw,cam,gdb,grd,gtr,hat,trk files)

Ik there are solutions 2 every pbz but 4 now i'll just choose one among the 2.
And i wish dat one day i b able to rename tracks so i could find'em in the game eazyly.

BTW Sunalp2,yr CMP mod iz really well done i wish i could drive exactly da same way on every tracks.
Good grip,good brakes i love it.Best sensation.Real pleasure.Like 4 real.
Jgf and y'all guys keep up da good work !

Peace.

Don't forget the *.Hat file
You probably have to delete that each time you start the other track ?
Assuming it will have same name

I solved conflicts of all sorts with JSGME / OVGME
Have 2 mods load either track and their *.Hat files.
They would be installed to my standalone GTR2 3rd party track folder that's used with PnG Link Tool.
If you want to drive one you just check which is activated.
Simply activating one or the other in PnG Link Tool does not replace *.Hat file ;)

P.S. lol doh, sorry I see you mentioned *hat

So maybe my way is only viable solution, I mean it saves touching a file.
Just takes one second to disable/enable either track when you want to use the other.......
